The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

Welcome to the dozens of new subscribers to Hit Exchange News and for everyone else, thanks for reading issue 104! I am finally home after my month long trek throughout Canada and the North Eastern United States and it's great to be home. I apologize for missing the last two weeks of H.E.N. and believe me, that will never happen again. I am back and ready to keep delivering the news to you, each and every week.

It's been a very trying and troubled time for our American readers, specifically to those in the southern U.S. I'm sure everyone has heard many program owners, pleading with you to support the organizations that are aiding in the recovery of New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast and I will do no different.

I know you may already know, but just in case, here are some very important links to bookmark and check out if you are interested in helping out.

The American Red Cross (or call 1-800-HELP-NOW)

The Salvation Army

CNN.com Help Center

I hate to start the new issue of H.E.N. on such a somber note, but I think I speak for the majority of the industry when I say we are all praying for you and have you all in our thoughts.

Thank you so much for being such a valued subscriber to Hit Exchange News and enjoy this week's issue! If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please drop me a line at (306) 374 - 6314. =)

New Exchange of the Week

The News

  • Say it ain't so! Yes, the rumors are true and the guys at Webmaster Quest are selling their exchanges to focus on Blog Explosion and their new program, called Fight 4 Traffic (which has yet to be released). Jeff and Thomas have been pioneers in this business and while they are simply changing ownership, it will be sad to know they are not behind the controls anymore at Webmaster Quest, Cash Clicking and Clicks Matrix. More news soon on their new program...
  • No more Hit Exchange Report? No, it's still there but now the popular ranking report will be known as Test Hoopla and will cover not only traffic exchanges but Yahoo Groups, Safelists and much more. New name, same great statistics!
  • Happy 3 years to Click Master Pro! It's hard to beleive, but one of the first pro-only exchanges turned 3 years old this week and congratulations are in order to Mr. Dan Moses. Not only that, but Dan also took control of PowaSurf this week as well. The Pro-Only Man is at it again!
  • I have added a brand new feature to NetMarketingFoum.com and this goes out to traffic exchange owners specifically. I have added a new section called The Traffic Exchanges of NMF. I'm basically trying to, not only promote NMF on a much broader scale, but also give owners a new outlet to inform their members and others (in the NMF community) about news and happenings in their exchange. Each owner will have complete control of their specific forum within NMF, and the hope is that this builds an even stronger exchange community.

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

  1. Traffic Pods
  2. TS 25
  3. Hit Safari
  4. Click Voyager
  5. Web Biz Insider
  6. Traffic Roundup
  7. Easy Hits 4U
  8. Keno Clix
  9. Pro Hits Plus
  10. WebmasterQuest

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

Deep Thoughts - The Design Dilemma and Rich's Rant

Is there no creativity left in our industry?

Take for example, the ever popular 'Stop Sign' graphic found on splash pages across the internet. Why does every new splash page out there have a stop sign graphic? I think there are other 'traffic signs' we can use, but still we stick with the good old fashioned red and white? That is minor compared to some of the other goodies I have noticed.

I love this one, how about the 'stock pictures' of some young professional guy and girl, huddled over the computer trying to look like they are so focused on business and nothing else? You know, the graphics that seem to come with the cookie cutter business scripts some people promoted during the past few months? The ones that are trying to add 'instant credibility' to a doubling program with the 'college students graphic'?

Those are just two examples in the problem I am seeing with web design in this business. There is no creativity left. If if's not being copied, it's just being recycled! Heaven forbid you actually hire someone to make you a custom graphic or logo. Folks, if you are looking to get the most bang from your traffic exchange experience, let me put it this way, your design and logos are HUGE factors. People can smell stock photos and trust me, these do not pull in sales and leads.

Hire a designer. Do a search in Google for 'cheap logos'. Find unique pictures. Dig deep for your design needs and you will find a wealth of great graphics. They are out there! If you need help finding any logo's or graphics, drop me a line and I'll point you in the right direction!

Remember, in this business, sticking out from the crowd is what works!

Rich's Rant by Richard Taylor

There was an interesting thread over at the NMF called "You know you are an Internet marketer when . . ." The significance of this was that it was meant to be a 'humorous' thread, but in reality, it showed much more.

First off, lets see what an "Internet marketer" is. It is based upon two individual aspects, the Internet, and marketing.

We all know what the Internet is. It's that 'magic' technology that delivers vast amounts of knowledge to your computer. It also supplies the means for many of these so-called "Internet marketers" to fill your hard drive with Spam and Scam.

So now we have identified one aspect of the proverbial "Internet marketer", now how about the 'marketer' part.

Dictionary.com describes 'marketing' as:

marketing

n 1: the commercial processes involved in promoting and selling and distributing a product or service; "most companies have a manager in charge of marketing" 2: shopping at a market; "does the weekly marketing at the supermarket"

While most "Internet marketers” do 'marketing' as described under #2 above, that does not qualify them as a 'marketer' as implied by most 'in the business' today.

Ok, so 'where' does the marketing 'expertise' all these individuals have alluded to come from?

Did they study as some predominant University and get a degree in Business Management or Marketing? Let me check . . . Um, no they didn't.

Are they skilled in the basics of marketing as they relate to "SWOT" analysis? How about something simpler, branding? No, most are not.

So 'how' did they get to be "Internet marketers"?

Well . . . They 'said' they were!

Yes, they have 'adopted' the title and proudly proclaim to the word that they are in fact, Internet marketers!

Over the past 6 years I have been working on-line, I have seen damn little 'marketing' being done. Yes, I have seen many advertising campaigns. Now advertising is indeed 'part of' the four "P's" of marketing, but NOT the only piece of the puzzle.

No, there are not many that have earned the title of "marketer". But maybe being an "Internet marketer" means something else entirely. And to that end, I would like to add my 'punch line' to the question asked in the NMF.

You know you are an Internet marketer when . . .

. . . You believe just clicking in a TE is marketing!

Program Review - Rainforest Clicks

This is another traffic exchange that takes a unique approach to surfing. Not only can you surf and get traffic, but portions of all the profits goes to rain forest preservation and education. Similar to last issue's Giving Hits, Rainforest Clicks is much more than a hit exchange as it targets a different market than the normal group of folks most exchanges attract.

With that, the program has been slower to grow than others, however traffic delivery is very quick in this program. It could be the quickest delivery of traffic in the industry only rivaled by TS25, however the results are not as high as other programs. Nonetheless this is a great program to get quick hits to your site. Great for branding and great for getting your message across.

If this program can steadily increase it's membership, and maintain it's delivery, it could become one of the better new exchanges online. More members are needed though, and that is critical.

% Unique Traffic: 37
Results: 2.5 out of 5.0
Traffic Flow (Speed of Delivery): Very Fast
Site Design: 3.0 out of 5.0
Customer Service: 4.0 out of 5.0
Ease of Use: 4.0 out of 5.0

Overall Rating: 3.5 Mouse Clicks (Rating out of 5.0)

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

  • Why does 'Track That Ad' have a button to 'break frames' in their system? Hmmm....
  • Wow, whatever happened to the new and improved Build Referrals? I thought that was supposed to 're-launch' early this summer? Or did already re-launch? Hmmm....
  • What is with the new splash pages being created with half naked woman on them? Is the wonderful world of traffic exchanges trying to compete with prime time television? Hmmm....
