The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
December 22nd, 2005

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

Happy holidays to every H.E.N. reader and to the entire traffic exchange industry. Whatever you may celebrate this season, make sure you spend some quality time with your family and put those mice away for a few...Hours...

With all the discussion of the importance of offline seminars and conferences, it looks like I will be attending quite a few of these little 'meetings' in 2006. My first one will be in early January at the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas. A few of us from the traffic exchange industry will be in attendance, so it should again showcase our little side of the internet to the untapped market of the affiliate promoters.

This was the goal of so many discussions this past year and it looks like the efforts of some progressive owners and surfers will finally start to pay off. We (the traffic exchange industry) are starting to turn heads out there with more and more people coming on board and discovering the power of proper traffic exchange advertising.

Get ready for a great 2006!

Thanks for reading this week's issue of Hit Exchange News!

The News

  • Why can't I assign credits anymore? I actually got a support question from a member of WebMaster Quest this past week, and I'm not even affiliated with the program. However it did peak my interest to their claim, so when I logged into the members area, it looks like there has been some adjustments to the back end management of the site. The new layout has got a very familiar 'Traffic G' feel to it, and since the changes traffic has been flowing great in the Quest!
  • I hate to toot my own horn because if you are a long time reader of H.E.N. you will know my reasons for limiting 'discussion' about my own traffic exchange ILoveHits.com. However, this past week ILH reached the 50,000 member mark. I am very proud of this achievement and would like to thank every single member and advertiser that has come through the doors at I Love Hits. 50,000 down, 450,000 to go!
  • This Week's Splash Page Hall of Fame Entry is this little green gem! I think this site does a great job of branding itself but the real strength I feel is the size of the layout. Big bold letters, graphics, color scheme but most importantly, it fits in the screen perfectly. Another great splash from Hit Ali!

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

  1. TS 25
  2. WebmasterQuest
  3. Web Biz Insider
  4. Hit Safari
  5. Traffic Roundup
  6. StartXChange
  7. Traffic Pods
  8. Wolf Surfer

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles

Deep Thoughts by Jon Olson

"Refer 3 and break even???"

I am deeply concerned every time I see statements like that on ad copy throughout the net. These are the ones that tell you all you have to do is refer a handful of people and you too can 'break even'? What is wrong with that picture?

Have we decided that mediocrity is acceptable? Do we no longer want to make money and are we content with just getting by? I know I'm not. This attitude seems to plague a lot of the ad copy I have been reading while surfing the exchanges (yes, I read sites while surfing). And it's not from people's splash pages, this is from the ad copy of big name online marketing companies.

Now there is a big difference between aiming high and then having unrealistic expectations. Becoming a millionaire by joining some MLM and expecting millions in a month, that is unrealistic. However setting a goal of a six figure income in the next few years, is aiming high and putting a realistic goal for your online business.

We all know how hard it can be to refer 'just 3 and then it's free', so why not aim for more than that. Get out of the 'just getting by' mentality and really get your business off the ground! The tools are out there and the networking opportunities are there as well!

Tony's Thoughts by Tony Tezak

There has been talk over at the NetMarketingForum about the framebreakers, adult content pages, and freezing pages, low unique percentages, etc., at TrafficSyndicate 25. Yet there are some who claim great results while surfing TS25.

It seems that TS25 is surfed quite heavily by some. So I wonder if the great results at TS25 are a result of a more intense surfing effort than at other exchanges.

Food for thought......

Why not take that same surfing effort and apply it to 4 or 5 good exchanges. Why not choose AdvertisingKnowHow, 10kHits4Unow, ILoveHits, TrafficRoundup and WebmasterQuest? Use that simple, 'slam dunk' splash page your created for TS25, and apply the same intense surfing effort at these exchanges. I think you will be surprised.

Nothing to lose, why not try it for a couple of weeks?

Program Review - Email Aces

Build your list, make sure you capture e-mail addresses, yadda yadda yadda. We've heard it over and over again, but how many of us are really building our mailing lists? Again, out of all the sites I see while surfing, about 70-80% are not using splash pages and even fewer are not trying to capture e-mail addresses. Thus, the importance of an quality auto responder in your online marketing arsenal.

I've tried a lot but none have got the features of Email Aces. This program has been online for some time now and one glance at the members area, you can see why it's a leader in the auto responder industry. The instructions on how to use the program are stellar, this is great if you are new to this and the step by step instructions get you up and running in no time flat.

The program is designed for the 'newbie' in mind but don't let that fool you, this is as professional an auto responder as there is out on the market. If you are going to build a list, I cannot stress how important it is to go with a solid auto responder program. Email Aces is a sure bet for your email needs!
