
Issue 122One To Click On by JonWelcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News! It's been quite a week for the term 'splash pages'. We have seen the release of the highly touted Splash Page Brander, there has been a release of a splash design service, a new splash page generator in Page Swirl, a new 'splash page only' traffic exchange and *grin* my own little program I plan on releasing in a few weeks time... Case in point, splash pages are finally seeing the light of day. Members are starting to see the benefit of using these amazing little web sites and the results are speaking for themselves....However, there is still a huge chunk of people that are not using them in their everyday traffic exchange advertising campaigns. Be sure to read my 'Deep Thoughts' this week as I go over the splash page revolution and whether or not, all these splash pages are good for the industry or if they are hurting it...Hmmmm... It's a different view of all the hype surrounding splash pages in a little piece I like to call...The death of the Splash Page..... Could it be? I mean, many of us know that splash pages are one of the most effective tools online for using the traffic exchanges, so this may come as a shock to a lot of people but please follow this article closely. Are splash pages loosing their effectiveness? I first used a splash page way back in 2002, in fact we didn't even have a name for them then. Before that, all of the pages that were in rotation on the exchanges where generic affiliate sites. When I created my first splash, I wanted to stick out like a sore thumb. It was a very basic design, it had a big bold headline, and then a few words about what the viewer could gain by clicking on the link. You know how I knew I had something good when I created that splash page? My results soared, and I grew my business from using that one page for almost half a year! I look back at why that splash page did so well for my advertising and it's simple, I stuck out. I grabbed people's attention quickly and got them to my call to action right away. This is a fundamental design of the pages that I see lacking these days, they are missing that uniqueness. There is so many cookie cutter programs out there and services that tell you they can create splash pages for you, but lack that simple 'attention grabber' that the first splash pages online had. This has to change. Splash pages work, because they are different. Using a cookie cutter splash page, is as effective as a generic affiliate link. However with Splash Page Brander, a new tool developed this past week, things could turn around and bring 'uniqueness' back to the splash pages. Tools like this are essential for 'sticking out' from the clutter. What good is a call to action on a splash page, if no one reads that far down a splash to begin with. If you are designing your own splash pages, your attention grabber must be your primary concern. Are splash pages dead? Have they lost their effectiveness? Yes and no. Yes, I think they are loosing ground because they are more concerned about just 'being a splash page' rather than sticking out from the clutter. No, splash pages are here to stay and with tools like Splash Page Brander, the proof is that when used properly, they are the best way to brand yourself, your program and develop a strong presence in the traffic exchanges. Remember to stick out like a sore thumb, that is the power of the splash page!
