The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
February 23rd, 2006

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

Another 7 days have passed and it's time for another fun filled issue of Hit Exchange News. While it's been a relatively slow week, we did see the launch of an amazing new concept from a well known exchange owner and his 'under study'. We also saw one of the best week's ever for *cough* I Love Hits. And some of the newer traffic exchanges that have been released lately are picking up steam. Finally, the Focus 4 seminars that I am helping with in Dallas and Seattle, are promising to be a huge success.

Speaking of which, be sure to check out this week's featured article about why you should be attending these offline events. It's a great eye opener if you have ever had doubts about the power of offline conferences and networking with your fellow surfers.

I hope you had a great week and I know the next 7 days will be even better! Keep on clicking, you are what makes this industry grow!

Thanks for reading this week's issue of Hit Exchange News!

The News

  • The art of taking a theme and running with it can be found in Traffic Soldiers as the program installed a brand new surf bar into the system this week. The images now fit in perfectly with the whole 'Soldier' theme. A lot more pleasant than those 'shapes' we are all used to matching.
  • The end of the LJ Script? More and more, it seems exchanges are transferring their back end script from the popular 'LJ script'. Most recently is Deep Sea Hits which is now running on a TCNTE Script (similar to Traffic Roundup, Max Traffic Pro and others).
  • Congratulations to Nexus Exchange for having one of the most successful referral contests in traffic exchange history. The lucky winner, Karen Ann Moore, received a huge prize pack for referring Nexus' 750th active member, including upgrades, bonuses, gift certificates and an entire DVD collection courtesy of some very generous owners. Way to go Nexus!
  • This Week's Splash Page Hall of Fame Entry is this splash page created by Benjamin Scott. To be put simply, this is the perfect splash page. The picture is on it to brand Benjamin, his name is on there, it's easy to read and there is a clear call to action. A great splash page!

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

  1. StartXChange
  2. Traffic Roundup
  3. Easy Hits 4U
  4. Hit Safari
  5. Pro Hits Plus
  6. Down Under Hits
  7. TS 25

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles

Deep Thoughts by Jon Olson

There was a recent debate in Net Marketing Forum about whether or not traffic exchange owners should be banning certain programs in their exchange. The debate brought valid points from both sides of the coin, but a survey by the owners of Vinterchange really captured my attention.

I was very shocked and concerned when the survey showed the majority of the members of this program wanted to be 'told' what was legal and what was not. In essence, they did not want to do the research themselves, they wanted others to find out for them. This got me thinking...

We are being taught to follow and not to lead. That is a huge problem with all online business and I'm not saying for everyone to jump up, spend ten thousand dollars and develop their own program. However for the good of your own business, stop listening to what people tell you to think and believe and find out for yourself. Develop your own opinions, develop your own presence, find out if the program you are promoting is legal by yourself, do your OWN due diligence.

Just because someone tells you a program a wonderful, does not mean it does not require a good follow through in research. Check with other members, get feedback from various forums, ask questions, check out certain online consumer protection sites, but find out for yourself!

I really hope the people that answered that survey made a mistake and did not understand the question, because from what it looks like, we are putting our faith and trust for our own businesses into the hands of others. And not taking care of business ourselves...

Why you should attend seminars by Robert Puddy

Have you ever ranted about how the big name marketer's always promote each others products and services? Sounded off about how the little guy can't break into the elite circles that make the difference between 2 sales a week and 10's or 100's sales per day?

Well, the thing is people do business with people they know. It’s a well documented social and human trait. So to have any chance of breaking into circles of influence you desire, you need to make contact with those people who populate that social circle.

First contact is much easier if they have met you. Imagine an email landing in Mike Filsaime's or Joel Comms in box with a subject line "Michael I would like to do a JV with you" from someone who he has never met and only heard of in passing.

Against the same subject line in an email from someone he has met personally and has sat in a bar with and probably stood next to him in the "john".

With the second example he is much more likely to open the email and read it, and more importantly action it. More than that though, a group of like minded people interacting together brings out enormous amounts of energy and ideas.

I have seen rank newbies come together at a seminar and create a product that gets taken up by big marketers on the spot. The product was never even a thought on either persons mind before they attended the seminar, but during the course of the seminar they just got talking and the whole idea was born.

2 weeks after attending a seminar they were making so much money they both gave up their jobs to admin the product. Now not everyone will be making boat loads of money 2 weeks after the seminar ends, but you will make contacts for life that will speed up your learning curve and your circle of influence growth.

Did anyone listen to the Jeff Walker teleconference "social proof" with Yanik Silver and John Reese?

Did you understand the power of association that social proof generates?

Being seen at seminars by big players is the ‘social proof’ that you are a player, or at least a potential player.

A friend of mine, Marc Quarles, went to a seminar where he overheard Armand Morin describing the perfect tracking software, Marc had already pretty much written the software for his own use. So he butted into the conversation Armand was having to say 'Hey Armand, I have that pretty much written already maybe we can do a JV?' The rest, as they say, is history.

Marc now partners with Armand on pretty much all his software products. Marc went from being barely able to pay his way in the business, to employing people to help run his business. All just from one over heard conversation in the coffee break.

Most 'six figure affiliates' will tell you they learned from someone else who was already successful who was willing to take the time to share their experience and know how.

Going to, and being seen at, Internet marketing seminars can propel you overnight into a success story like no other method of self promotion is ever capable of.

Program Review - Traffic At The Races

Innovative programs always seem to do well in this business. Whether it be the first 'themed' exchange like Traffic Roundup, the first exchange with a unique downline structure like TS 25, or the 'game exchange' like Mystical Maze. This week's reviewed program is something very special.

Traffic At The Races, on the surface, looks like another LJ Scripted exchange. It's got a great logo and very nice site design, but once you start surfing it, you realize it's completely different. Gone is the surf ratio! Yes, you are not surfing for credits with this program, you are surfing to go to the 'horse races'. You see, this is the concept. You surf 10 times and then a nice little horse race starts. Depending on what place your horse finishes, is how many page views you will be awarded.

It's extremely addicting and makes surfing fun. The biggest issue will be if this program can continue to grow and develop after the 'fun' has worn off. Still, it's one of the best new releases in recent memory and a 'must join' new traffic exchange!

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

  • Yes, I am still a proud Canadian even though our Olympic Men's Hockey Team lost.... Hmmm....
  • I got 4 charge backs this week Storm Pay that originated from members that were promoting certain 'auto surf' programs...Grrrrr! Hmmm....
  • Wow, isn't Pro Builder Plus becoming quite the popular little program... Hmmm....
