The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
March 3rd, 2006

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

HEN on a Friday? Since day one, Hit Exchange News has always been delivered on Thursdays (North American Thursdays that is) but this week, we are about 24 hours behind schedule.

I caught a nasty little flu bug and when you are out of commission while running a home based business, everything slows down. I apologize for missing this week's release date but hopefully this won't happen again anytime soon. And hey, changing things up for a week doesn't hurt, it keeps us on our toes. It's the first time in about 5 years that I caught a flu bug, but things are starting to improve! Yes Mom, I'm drinking lots of fluids (she reads HEN every week!)...

So enough about that, let's get down to business with the new issue of Hit Exchange News and the wonderful world of traffic exchanges....

Thanks for reading this week's issue of Hit Exchange News!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

The Power of Traffic Exchange Brand Awareness

Everyone seems to be telling you that 'building a brand' is the thing to do. It's funny, because every few months there seems to be a new 'term' that strikes excitement into this business. A few months ago it was 'niche', before that was the famous taboo 'spam' term...Well this month it's branding, but what exactly is it?

The easiest way I can describe this is by asking a question. Have you ever heard of Coca Cola? Silly question huh? But it's the perfect example of how powerful building a brand name is. It's advertising 101, it's what we should each be trying to do with our businesses. And by no means does this imply we need to become a multi-billion dollar empire like the folks down in Atlanta (Coca Cola), but the general idea is very sound.

It's simple, wherever you go, stick your name out there. Whether it be on a splash page, going to an online seminar, posting in a forum, adding content to a blog, make sure you are always being seen. Here's an example of something I heard this past week that struck me. According to a national advertising firm, every human being is bombarded with over 3000 advertising messages a day. 3000! Now how do you stick out from the crowd?

Hey, that's 3000 'everyday people'. We are traffic exchange surfers who more than likely get another 500-1000 ad messages put on top of the 3000 we already view. So what can you do to stick out? Simple, build your brand awareness. Build YOU! Everywhere you go, stick your name there. Yes, it takes time, it takes energy and it's not a glamorous task, but it works!

Maybe branding isn't the word we should be using, how about something similar but adds our own 'flair' to traffic exchange advertising. Let's call it traffic exchange brand awareness....Get people to know you using TEBA *lol*!

Program Review - Traffic Splash

It's been a very good 4 weeks for new traffic exchanges. I myself, think there is always room for new and innovative programs, with owners that look at the big picture, rather than get rich quick models. Case in point, this innovative new program called Traffic Splash.

A traffic exchange that features splash pages only *great for your T.E.B.A. - read the above article for info on that* and with only a 6 second timer, hits really fly. While it does focus on the benefits of designing and creating great splash pages, there is still some pages I have seen that need some work. However, this is a step in the right direction.

Can the industry sustain a 'splash page only' exchange when splash pages were designed to stick out in the clutter of generic affiliate pages? Now it looks like the focus will be on more eye catching designs. And that is a good thing!

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

  • I'm getting more Storm Pay charge backs now...Lovely! Hmmm....
  • Now it seems Google is cracking down on my abusive 'Dog Site' for excessive clicks? Horrible huh? Hmmm....
  • Hit Kingdom is four years old! Congrats! Hmmm....
