Issue 136One To Click On by JonWelcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News! Next week is going to be a special issue...It will be 3 years since I sent out my first little issue of Hit Exchange News. It will be issue 137 so it looks like I have only missed 19 weeks since I started the e-zine. Not bad...But I do get lazy from time to time... I want to thank Pat Marcello for joining Hit Exchange News this week. Pat's new column will appear every week, and have lots of fun stuff for our readers. She is a published author and a resident T.E. enthusiast. I hope you all enjoy Pat's column and be sure to look for other new writers as I expand HEN in the coming months. Yeah, it's been a fun 3 years and this 'lead up issue' to our 3rd year anniversary should get a lot of people talking about the traffic exchange industry...Just the way we like it at HEN... Thanks for reading this week's issue of Hit Exchange News!

The News
The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum! Enjoy this week's list!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles
Deep Thoughts by Jon OlsonThe Pay Pal Debate Bobby Ivie from Funny Farm Traffic woke up to a surprising little email a few days ago. Apparently, his Pay Pal account had been suspended for owning and operating an auto surf. That's fine and dandy, one problem, Funny Farm Traffic is a manual traffic exchange and has been online longer than most of those 'auto surf' programs in the first place. Thus began our little adventure this past week. Pay Pal really scared a lot of owners this week because as much as we tried to differentiate ourselves from the auto surfing programs, we all got lumped into one big pot. After a few days, Bobby finally got his account restored and got a first hand look at what Pay Pal expects from manual traffic exchange owners. The meat of it is this. To be compliant with Pay Pal's Acceptable Use Policy, exchanges had to dump their referral credit earnings. What this means, is that Pay Pal views the credits we give our multi leveled downlines a monetary value. And this makes sense, because if you think about it, owners are selling the credits for cash, thus they have a value. Next, was the wording on the sites. Red flags come up with the words surf, URL, and downline. Strange, but again this is what Pay Pal expects, so a lot of owners followed suit. I mean, honestly it doesn't seem to be too much to ask. The problem comes back to the multi leveled referral structure and how to approach this. Again, if you choose to use Pay Pal you must adhere to their terms. But does this go against everything that the T.E.'s started as? Does this really effect your earnings and or referral bonuses? Do it put more emphasis on building your own business rather than a T.E. owners? So many questions and what better place than to discuss it at Net Marketing Forum. There is some great discussion going on, and when owners and surfers get together, good things happen. Check out the thread and make your voice heard! And a special thanks goes to Bobby Ivie for having to go through this all. It was not fun I'm sure, but you really helped a lot of us out! Thank you sir!

FYI by Pat MarcelloGood Egg or Bad Egg? It's Up to You So, I'm surfing right along yesterday, and WHAM! I'm kicked out of my favorite traffic exchange by the dreaded, dastardly, evil, (well you get the idea), framebreaker. Why are you wasting time? I wonder. The owner of this page is obviously wasting mine because now, I have to navigate back to the traffic exchange and report your page. The traffic exchange owner will be wasting time because he or she has to find your sorry page and boot it. And, you're wasting your own time! Why yours? Because I'm not likely to join or buy anything advertised on a frame-breaking page. I don't support SPAM and I won't support framebreakers. And there have been quite a few lately. That makes me a very unhappy clicker, and if you're someone who's diligent enough to check every page in your rotator to be sure it doesn't break frames, someone who stops to take the time to report these pages, or someone who just knows how to read and follow rules, then you should be unhappy, too. But if you just follow rules and don't allow your own pages to break frames, then step up. Become one of the few who report the pages that do. Everyone wins that way—you, the exchange owner, and perhaps even the person supporting the frame-breaking page, too. It's true that you might not realize that your page has changed and become one of the few who drive us to distraction. If you're promoting affiliate sites or referral pages provided by the program, you may not be aware of changes that would cause the page to break its frame. Wouldn't you like to know if you're promoting a page like that? I certainly would, especially if it has my picture on it. Here's the thing. Check every page you promote regularly. If you aren't housing it on your own server, then even before you start to surf in an exchange (at least once a week or so), test those pages to be sure there have been no changes to cause a problem. You'll really be glad you did. Traffic exchange owners who see too many complaints for the same people are bound to blast the offending members right back to the Intergalactic Stone Age. Well, OK, maybe just boot them from the exchange, but you get the idea. Be a good egg. Don't load framebreakers and we'll ALL love you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pat Marcello is a T.E. enthusiast and published author. Program Review - Jurassic SurfI have got to admit it, it's good to see nice solid traffic exchanges being launched these days and gone are the days of 5 dollar scripts and no members joining. Still, a new traffic exchange is only as strong as the ownership behind it and when new owners embrace how to promote and execute a solid plan to launch a new exchange, good things happen. Jurassic Surf has everything you would need in a new T.E., a solid design, great script and an owner that 'gets it'. The key now is to keep this program visible for the long run and good things will happen. A good looking program with the potential to grow a lot in the next few months!
