The News
The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum! Enjoy this week's list!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles
Deep Thoughts by Jon OlsonFinally! It's funny, because the number one question that comes up time and time again in both online forums and live seminars is 'how do I get results from the traffic exchanges?'. Why is this funny? Well, the information is out there yet only a handful of people use it. There are forums, seminars, e-books, tutorials and so much amazing information out there yet only a few people seem to put this into action. Action. That is the word of the week! It's fine to get all this information but it's useless unless you take action. For example, have you seen the 'Kevin Anderson invasion'? Take a look at what this gentleman is doing is you can see someone who is putting a lot of that useful information into action. His splash pages grab your attention, the exchanges are getting flooded with his programs and his name is getting out there. This is exactly what everyone should be doing, make your impact felt! It does not take thousands of dollars it just takes some creativity, some elbow grease and persistence. Do you have your splash page rotated in the exchanges? How well would you compare it to some of the other splash pages you have seen? Are you taking part in forum discussions? How about attending online seminars? Have you networked with other exchange owners? What are you doing to build your business?

FYI by Pat MarcelloSites That Should Be Banned from the Planet
Was that a little strong?
Yeah.
Well...
I'm sick to death of all the noise in traffic exchanges.
There. I said it.
I know I've advocated sound in advertising, and it's true that it works and works well. But sound has its place. The first thing I would ban, were I a TE owner, are sites with sound. Use a splash page to take us to the sound or video. I'd be much more likely to buy/join your product/program if you do.
Next I would ban "easysur...s" homepage. Not only does it break the frame, it takes a long time for your browser to figure out what in the heck it's trying to do. Or it makes your browser crash entirely. That just happened to me two minutes ago. (Can you tell?) Grr. If you own this site, please be more polite and take it out of rotation in the traffic exchanges. If you don't own it, but know who does, give her/him a whizz-bang (AKA flick) for me, K?
On to my pet peeves... PTP (paid-to-promote). These pages often hang browsers, deposit adware, and I mean, what they heck are they selling? With so much junk on the pages, how can anyone tell what business it is that they're promoting?
Third, I would totally and completely ban H...vy.com. It's a great site, I have no doubt, but every time I have to wait for the frame to break in every traffic exchange where it's advertised, so that I can see it, well...
I can NOT go there. I will not go there. You ticked me off too many times, Mr. H...vy site. You're a huge black ink spot in my preferred sites book.
There. I feel better now.
Please don't take any of my ranting out on Jon. These are my sole opinions, and I venture to guess that they're many other people's, too.
So, like, here's the deal, people: Take that crap out of the traffic exchanges, use appropriate splash pages, and I'll take a serious look at your sites. Test your pages. And if you're using rotators, test EVERY page in it to make sure you aren't making your fellow surfers nuts.
If you do these things, heck, I might even buy something or join up under you somewhere. But let me tell you this: While you're advertising stuff that irritates me, you don't have a prayer in well... you know where.

Speaking of Kevin Anderson, did you know he has his own traffic exchange? O.k., before I get into it. This is a Walker Brother script and while it may not be one of the preferred scripts online it is one of the most popular. I do feel the owner has much more to do with whether a traffic exchange succeeds or not. So why does this program work?
Well, the owner 'gets it'. One look at the site design and you can see the theme they are going for right away. I love this site design and it really does a great job at capturing your attention. It sticks out and really makes you stop and look.
The next is traffic flow, it moves traffic very well. I've been tracking this program and the results so far have been very good. Also the fact that this program is growing at a very steady rate shows the long term growth potential of it.
All in all, I like Hit Gusher a lot. While it may not be for everyone, this program shows you exactly what kind of program you can develop when you put your creative touch to work. A solid new addition to the industry!
