Issue 151One To Click On by JonWelcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News! I noticed something while surfing on Monday afternoon that really caught my attention. I was surfing I Love Hits, TS25, Royal Surf and StartXchange all at once. And then it caught my eye. In the browser at I Love Hits, was a splash page for Rainforest Clicks. At TS25, another splash page for Rainforest Clicks. In Royal Surf, there was a banner for Rainforest Clicks. And then in StartXchange was (you guessed it) a splash page for Rainforest Clicks! Now what did I do when I saw this? Not only did I mark it down as something to discuss in this week's Hit Exchange News, but I stopped surfing I Love Hits and started to surf Rainforest Clicks. Moral of the story? This is what I call the perfect promotions in the traffic exchanges. Only good things happen when you get your program seen in multiple programs. Imagine, your face / product being seen in 3/4 of the sites someone is surfing. Now that's effective and that's how you get your name known in this business. Thanks for reading this week's issue and I hope you enjoy it!

The News
The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum! Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles
Deep Thoughts by Jon Olson5% rule? Garbage, it's less than that... You've heard it a million times online. 95% of the people will fail in online business. Only 5% will make a good living from their online endeavors. Where do they come up with this stuff? I mean, where are all these stats coming from? Seeing that we're in the business of throwing around numbers, I have a feeling it's even less than 5%. Let's say it's 2%...How did I come up with 2%? Well, out of 100 traffic exchanges online, only about 2 of them are worth using. *gasp* I can hear the jaws dropping around the industry, but let's look at just a few of the garbage programs that are out there. I can think of about 200 or so 'investment surfs' and heavens knows, we don't need to scratch that wound. I just think about 2% of the people in this business, treat it like a business. And no, that does not mean your 'hobby' cannot be treated as a business either. A hobby turns into a business, I'm a perfect example of that. However the one thing I did once I saw the growth potential was this, I re-invested my earnings into promoting and developing my 'hobby'. So 5% will succeed? I guess so. I for one think I'm in the 95%, because if I get comfortable and tell myself I have 'made it', then my business will not grow. One of my mentors told me something once that has stuck with me for years and I will quote him here: "When people get comfortable, they get lazy. And when people get lazy, they cannot move forward. Being comfortable is the quickest way to stop progress!" - Kenneth W. Olson (My Father)

FYI by Pat MarcelloEarning Online: Spending is NOT an option
Why did you come online? I mean, really. Did you come here to advertise something that you already have or did you come online to find the next get-rich-quick scheme and make a gazillion dollars? If it's the latter, you're certainly wasting your time. That doesn't happen. Do you know who makes money with those, even if they are legitimate? People who have taken the time _and_ money to invest in their success. Here's the thing: You can get carpal tunnel surfing the traffic exchanges, but unless you spend some money, you'll probably not get very far. Think about this: When you surf many of the exchanges, you have to click three, four, or even five times before someone sees your site, when you're a free member. So, let's say you're at the upper end of the spectrum there. You click 100 times, but your site will only be shown to 20 people. Now, considering the old saw about people needing to see your site 7 times before they buy or join, That means the same 20 people require 140 views. Hmm... that means you have to click 700 times before you get a sale or a sign-up. Considering even a 10-second timer, that means 5.8 hours surfing for one sale, and many timers are 15 to 30 seconds. Whoa. That equates to 1.5 to three times longer. But still, it's not that neat and clean. Your site won't be seen by the same 20 people in 700 clicks. Here's where the money part comes in. If you upgrade your membership, credits usually come with the upgrade, right? Plus, you're earning more views every time you click. In the case of an upgrade that provides one click per view, that upgrade has increased your advertising power by 3, 4, or 5 times! Now, when you click 700 people may actually see your advertisement. Traffic exchange owners are always having credit sales, too. Sometimes, they're an incredible deal! I just got 1,000 credits for $5 at one of them. How cool is that? Even when you're an upgraded member, these sales can further increase your advertising power, and that's what it's all about. I don't know about you, but there are so many more ways of advertising that I can't afford to spend my whole day clicking in the traffic exchanges. Still, they're an awesome way to brand yourself or your program, and they do work. I wouldn't give them up for the world. Don't be a cheapo. Spend some money. If you don't, and you spend all day, every day surfing, you won't make it. Sometimes throwing a little cash (and we aren't talking mega-bucks here, people) at the problem can be the right thing to do.

Program Review - Raining TrafficI love new concepts. Especially when you combine tried and trusted ideas and add your own touch of creativity to it. The newest kid on the block is a brand new program called Raining Traffic. It's a 1:1 surf ratio and that in itself is remarkable, because for the majority of the newer programs online, a 1:1 surf ratio can be a 'TE death sentence'. And this is the kicker, this program guarantees it's traffic flow. So how can this happen? There is no upgrades, no credit sales, no extra bonuses. It's a straight up and down, 1:1 surf ratio, that's it. Another very cool feature about this program is the ability to add your own one time offer so that it will be seen by everyone you refer. A very cool feature. All in all, this program looks to be a very solid addition to the industry and knowing the owner of this program, it will be here for a long time to come.
