Issue 166One To Click On by JonWelcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News! I'm still here! Yes, after 8 years of keeping busy with the traffic exchanges, I'd like to think I'm still as visible as ever. This is one of the reasons I am a strong believer in 'Traffic Exchange Brand Awareness'. If you have been reading Hit Exchange News for sometime or coming to my little online training seminars every week, you will know how much I yap about T.E.B.A.. Why is this so important? It's really simple when you break it down, but it takes time and effort so this could be a reason only a handful of folks online have really embraced this concept. The idea is this, be in front of your potential client's eyes in 6 months, just as much as you are today. Why is this hard for some folks? Let's say you are starting a brand new business or starting to promote a new program. You are very excited and extremely eager to promote wherever you get the chance... Hey, it's exciting right? The opportunity is right there in front of you. However that 'excitement' starts to fade after a few months. And then once we have not reached that income level we thought we would, we almost stop promoting it altogether. Guess who wins here? Nobody. The trick to all this traffic exchange mumbo jumbo is that you need to be visible...For an extended period of time. People come and go in this business all the time. I get members who disappear for months and then pop back into view. What you need to do is maintain your efforts so that those members see you when they are 'excited' and they still see you when they come back online after their disappearing act. So here's the 'trick', promote YOU first, maintain that promotion for the long run and never get too high or too low. Sounds simple enough, now let's make it happen! Thank you very much for being a subscriber and enjoy Hit Exchange News!

The News
The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum! Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles
Deep Thoughts by Jon OlsonGive Credit! This has got to be one of the only industries on the planet that never seems to give credit. Read any business book, attend any offline event, or read any other ad copy and credit is always given, but not in the traffic exchanges. There have been cases of this during the past month that really had me wondering if I should start copy writing my ideas. But that is silly. Hey if someone comes up with a great idea and you use it, good! All that anyone wants is a little word of mouth credit that shows that you are using something someone came up with. No harm in that. In fact I do it all the time. When I do my weekly training, I always give credit to someone's idea that I am sharing with others. It's just common business practice. It's respectful and honestly, deep down it makes you feel good. However in the traffic exchanges, certain owners never want to give credit and others simply grab ideas from other folks and start using them as their own. Why? Is it because the people who are coming up with these ideas do not know it's happening? Do they even care? Is it that big a deal? I'm not sure what this article will accomplish, I guess I'm just asking for everyone to pay respect for your fellow business people. If you use someone's idea, just give them credit for it. Nothing more, nothing less...

Program Review - Michel Lavergne's Newsletter ReaderMichel Lavergne has got to be one of the best 'idea guys' in the traffic exchange industry. His Tutorials 4 Newbies site came onto the scene last year and really did a great job at making quality tutorials for a variety of traffic exchanges. His latest program is a unique newsletter reader that you download onto your computer and let's you know when a traffic exchange has released it's latest update. Think of it as an RSS feed for the traffic exchanges. This is an amazing little tool and helps people keep updated on the in's and out's of a variety of programs. If you ever wanted to know which traffic exchanges you should support, just look at the effort people put into their newsletter every week and that will give you a great idea on which owners really want to offer value to their readers.
