The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
March 29th, 2007

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

What an incredible seven days in the traffic exchange industry? Wow, I am so honored to be a part of this business and see all the great things that happened during the past week. From huge referral contests, to new pod casts, to news of a brand new service that is sure to rock the traffic exchange world on Monday (be sure to keep an eye out for a special alert early next week).

I guess my big news of the week is the release of Hits, Clicks & Misses: The Traffic Exchange Experience. This is my new book that I wrote that went on sale early this week. And yes, I said 'book'...Not an e-book or some silly little bonus to download. It's been 8 years in the making and I'm extremely proud of it. I hope you folks enjoy it, it's essentially traffic exchange history and each and every tidbit, tip and tricks I could jam into about 150 pages.

With the added attention that the traffic exchanges are generating around the net, I hope that the release of Hits, Clicks & Misses: The Traffic Exchange Experience can help bring even more clients and surfers into our industry. The book should be ready to be seen on Amazon.com is a very days as well, so that should open up some more doors.

Small steps...Baby steps towards bringing the traffic exchanges into the limelight as being one of the most effective forms of online promotion.

Thank you very much for being a subscriber and enjoy Hit Exchange News!

  • TE Podcast is here! Join Dan Moses and myself each and every week as we go over the in's and out's of the traffic exchange industry on the net's first podcast dedicated to traffic exchange advertising. The blog should be ready soon and you can listen to the first episode by clicking here and checking out Episode One! Big things are right around the corner...
  • The 'Contest of all Contests'? The owners of Traffic Splash, Dragon Surf and Traffic At The Races have been busy this past week with one of the biggest joint venture contests in the history of the industry. They are paying out $500 in cash prizes to the member that brings in the most referrals into their programs. Not too shabby huh? And a great example of how traffic exchanges can work together to bring awareness to multiple programs. (Quick tip: It's a great time to advertise in these programs as user activity is at an all time high!)
  • SplashPages.biz opened up this week offering clients custom made splash pages at a very low cost. If you advertise in the traffic exchanges, a custom made unique splash page is a must. This is a great service owned by one of the best guys in this business, Jack Schafer.
  • Just a short note, advertising in Hit Exchange News has been booked until late summer 2007. I'm absolutely thrilled at the huge support that this e-zine receives and wanted to let folks know, if you wanted to get into HEN to advertise right away, you can always grab a banner ad spot in both HEN and Net Marketing Forum.
  • This Week's Splash Page Hall of Fame Entry is this page! Speaking of contests! Here is the joint venture contest I was referring to. Building awareness of each traffic exchange with a huge big bold headline. Another great example of splash pages gone wild!

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

The Paid Signup Problem....Or Solution?

I asked recently in Net Marketing Forum, are you o.k. with allowing paid sign ups into the traffic exchanges to win referral contests and add members to the exchanges? I hope to get some great feedback from this because it raises a very good question.

With the 'contest of all contests' starting to rev up this past week, a few of the participants started to buy paid sign ups into their downline to help increase their totals. Actually we are seeing the same thing happening at Affiliate Funnel with our latest contest as well.

What do I think of this? Tough call. Because the majority of these people that paid to sign up, won't do a thing but take up server space. The biggest problem with the paid to sign up service is that they get rewarded for signing up, that's it. Perhaps they must surf a few hundred pages before they get credit? I don't know what the answer is with that but one thing is for sure, it adds a ton of people into the traffic exchanges.

We sometimes forget that this industry started from the 'Paid To' world. Something to think about, because for every 5 traffic exchange surfers, there are 20 'paid-to' members. Maybe we need a better way to bring them over to our side of the internet? Perhaps reward activity, rather than just signing up and confirming a new account...

Program Review - Traffic Pro X

When I think 'LJ Script', I think of programs like I Love Hits, SWAT Traffic, Dragon Surf and others that use the popular version of this commercial script. However LJ Scripts offers more than just that 'Advanced' version, they have a basic version as well, that is really different from it's big cousin.

Traffic Pro X uses the basic LJ script but makes this look like an even more advanced copy of it. This new traffic exchange has only been online for a few weeks (or months) but has already started to turn a lot of heads. The owner is doing his grunt work right now and bringing awareness to the program, so for that reason alone I recommend this program.

The site design is attractive and the ease of use is second to none. Mix in some unique services like the 'Featured Member' that showcases individuals within the system for all to see, and you've got the recipe for a potential powerhouse.

One of the traffic exchanges that is flying under the radar now, but should do very good things in the coming months.

Uptime: 4.0
Features / Bonuses: 4.0
Site Design: 3.5 out of 5.0
Customer Service: 5.0 out of 5.0
Ease of Use:4.5 out of 5.0

Overall Rating:4.0 Mouse Clicks (Rating out of 5.0)

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (A 'Different' Look at the Industry!)

  • Hell hath frozen over, Smiley Traffic is on the 'Bubbling Under' list. Look out, here comes Vern! Hmmm....
  • Affiliate Funnel is one month old! The concept of filling a funnel rather than building a downline sure is getting people talking. Good, it's about time we put people first, rather than programs. Hmmm....
  • I drink way too much coffee! Hmmm....
