Issue 172One To Click On by JonWelcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News! So I wrote this book called Hits, Clicks & Misses: The Traffic Exchange Experience this past month and it was the first ever book about traffic exchanges that has been published. I'm very proud of it as it's essentially 8 years of all my experiences with these programs, bundled up in 156 pages of passion *lol*. I love these programs. I love the concept of traffic exchanges and more importantly I have seen first hand how if used properly, they can change a 25 year old 'pizza flipper' into a successful business person before he turned 30 (I'm 30 on April 24th). Was it only the traffic exchanges that made this happen? Naw, I got off my rear end and worked my tail off. But as for promotional tools, 98% of what I have used to build my business have come directly from the traffic exchanges. Amazing huh? Not bad for a model that people said wouldn't last past 2003. Want to know why these programs do so well? We are the front line! We are the first introduction many people get into internet marketing and 'how to generate free or low cost traffic'. Sure there are other ways, but traffic exchanges are where you can exchange time rather than money when you are getting started out. I hear people all the time rant and rave about how they are going to 'revolutionize the industry and change it'? O.K., growth is a good thing but why must we try to fix something that isn't broken. These programs deliver results and after 9 years of existing, I'm not sure anyone can debate that fact. Any ways, this is Issue 172! Deep Thoughts - Feature ArticlesHow Important Is Your Name? Just how important is adding your name, picture and or contact information to your splash pages? Can we measure it? For myself, I think it's vitally important. I'm a big promoter of the idea that you need to build your name before you can build a solid business online. Essentially, this means wherever I go and whatever I do online, has my name right beside it. But Jon, some people will argue, this only works for people who own a program of some sort. This could not be further from the truth. Let's say for example, that my name Jon Smith (wow, that's original huh? *lol*). I have no desire at all to build a program of my own and I want to make some money online. I have heard that the money is in the 'list' but I have to start with zero subscribers. How do I do it? I can use the traffic exchanges! I get myself a nice looking splash page with a lead capture form on it. And I start to review certain businesses online. I call my 'e-zine' Online Marketing Truths. Every week, even if I only have one subscriber, I make it a habit of sending my newsletter. My reputation starts to grow as more and more people are seeing my name and my ezine. Slowly but surely, people start to recommend to their associates this cool guy name Jon Smith who writes about online businesses and reviews them. Guess what is happening? I'm building my list and building my name. Now is it that easy? Kind of. It does take effort and lots of work, but the process is the EXACT same one I used to build this newsletter that got the ball rolling for me.

Program Review - Nexus ExchangeSo you have seen their ad on the top of HEN for over 6 months now. Yet there has not been a review. It's time! It's time to review my longest running advertiser in this e-zine and to give it a good lashing *lol* Nexus Exchange, on paper, is a surfer's dream. Imagine only being debited for your unique traffic hits, so every page view that come from the same visitor, you would not be charged for. Yes, it looks like it could be a fan favorite! Nexus has some very loyal members because it has two of the best owners you will meet. Aaron and Eva do a great job of really giving this program it's soul. They both care about their program and it shows in their weekly seminars and updates. Here's my opinion on what it needs to grow. There is nothing that makes this thing stick out from the crowd. Sure having an amazing ownership team is the first step, but I would love to see this thing get stripped and rebuilt, almost like I Love Hits was when I took control of it. The problem it seems is to keep people active, promoting and talking about Nexus. When you do something that has some 'shock and awe' in it, you will get heads turning towards you. As it is, this program has a decent design and looks solid. But it doesn't 'grab you'. With a kick butt site design, a logo and a fresh look I think Nexus could be one of the best traffic exchanges on the net. It just needs some 'shock and awe'.
