The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
July 19th, 2007

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

I smile each and every day in this business. I get up in the mornings and check my email and it's almost a daily occurrence now but the surfers are coming back! Yes, some of the traffic exchange users of a few years ago seem to be coming back into the fold. I've seen quite a few names that I recognize from years gone by, start to pop back into the business. So......

Keep at it! Do not quit when you are advertising in these exchanges. Guess who these surfers will ask for advice, purchase products and services and work with when they get back online? The people that they recognize and remember from when they started. This is what I called your traffic exchange brand awareness. Essentially you want to be seen as much in a year as your are today.

There's something to be said about longevity, people are attracted to it. So do your business a favor, and do not become a fly by night story. Stick with it and keep at it. The results and rewards will come to those that persist!

Thank you very much for being a subscriber and enjoy Hit Exchange News!

The News

  • Another big news week from Advertising Know How. After a few years of using the same design, AKH got a brand new look and feel. Wow! It's quite impressive and to go along with the new look is a brand new referral contest where AKH is giving away thousands of dollars of prizes and *cough* a bunch of my books as well. Very cool!
  • You are now able to transfer the old 'Focus Points' into your Splash Points account. Slowly but surely, this service is becoming a very nice addition to the industry. It just needs a few more big name programs to embrace the concept of customer loyalty and we could be seeing something very big in our future.
  • Net Marketing Forum got an upgrade this past week and I wanted to thank Jon Atwood for all his help with the transfer. The script should be running at a much better speed now and there are a ton of new features. Be sure to pop by and say hi at the new and improved NMF!
  • Just a note that I will be on the road for the better part of August. I've got two weddings I am attending (and one I am MC'ing) next month in Toronto. I will cut back the issues of Hit Exchange News in August and it looks like I will do 2 issues rather than 4. But this is tentative. More news on this in a few weeks.
  • This Week's Splash Page Hall of Fame Entry is this page! I love it (and not just because it's for my traffic exchange). Simply put, this is traffic exchange specific advertising at it's best. Custom made splash pages, tailor made to specific exchanges. Great stuff!

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles

So What's Legal or Illegal?

There's a new program launching in a few weeks that is starting to raise some eye brows in the traffic exchange industry. A few years ago, this thing would have been a fairly popular program and no one would have thought twice about it. But since the 12 daily pro fiasco, things have change din the traffic exchange industry.

So I have to ask myself, should I ban this program before it launches? Is that the right thing to do for my business? Should this program even be banned? And what good does it do if I do ban it? Simply put, for every 5 traffic exchanges that banned 12dailypro, another 10 would allow it. It's a losing battle.

I'm not judge or jury. I'm very 'anti-banning' things and have always taken a relaxed attitude when it comes to what people should and can promote. I feel we are all adults and able to make up our own mind. However it seems that a lot of people in this business lose all morals and ethics when they get presented with an offer 'too good to be true'. We almost lost our shirt the last time around, there should be no excuse if this thing gets out of hand.

Will it? I doubt it. I think the program will be popular and have it's niche in this business. I'm sure some folks will scream bloody hell if I do ban it, and some will scream bloody hell if I don't. Who knows? I don't think it has the 'umpff' that 12dailypro had to become a monster program. Should I sit back and wait to see? Or take the bull by the horns.

I told you this isn't a job, it’s an adventure…

Focus - The key to accomplishment

by Mike Paetzold

The one thing in common with all of the successful people I have known is the ability to focus. It is probably the KEY to being successful marketing on the internet.

It is also the absolute hardest thing to do for the average marketer. I know that lack of focus at times has put me at least a year behind where I should be on my marketing efforts.

If you market using free or low cost methods regardless of which way or the product that you market you are consistently bombarded with a variety of ads for an easier, better, guaranteed way to get rich. This causes you to always be changing horses in midstream ( a sure way to get wet:-). After all the two hours I spent promoting the last program hasn't gotten me rich so this new one must be the one that will retire me.

The very first thing you have to do is decide where you want to go. After all if you don't know where you are going the odds are real slim that you will get there. For most of us that will be as an affiliate of a program at least to start with. It is how I do it and most successful people ,even the program owners, use affiliate programs for additional income.

If this is the way you decide to go make sure that you avoid the biggest mistake. Learn to focus on the primary thing it takes to be successful. Promote YOU.

Everything you do to market any program ask the question "How can this promote me?" There are lots of ways to do this but if you grasp the concept that everything revolves around promoting you and that becomes your focus then you will be amazed at how things change for the better.

As long as you and your business are the focus of your marketing efforts good things will happen for you.

Program Review - Alert Pay

Pay Pal needs competition! I mean don't get me wrong, I love Pay Pal. I think it's been the most important and useful tool I have in my business for years, but when something is on top of the world for so long such as Pay Pal, competition can only help improve the over all quality.

Now Alert pay is NOT competition for Pay Pal but it's a very good second option for online payments. I used Safe Pay for a year now and I had to jump through hoops to get my account set up. Not with Alert Pay. Alert Pay is as easy to get set up and running then Pay Pal and has a very good user interface.

Nothing complicated just straight forward payment processing. The 'risky' businesses seem to be using this service quite a bit but hopefully Alert Pay can learn from the mistakes of other payment processors and not go down that road. This is quickly becoming one of the best processors online.

Overall Rating: 4.0 Mouse Clicks (Rating out of 5.0)
