The Pulse of the Hit Exchange Industry!
January 3rd, 2008

One To Click On by Jon

Welcome to the new issue of Hit Exchange News!

It's 2008! And Hit Exchange News is back! It's been 3 weeks since our last newsletter and I have to apologize for missing all that time. We're back now and ready to chit chat about traffic exchanges for another year.

Another year. Yes, this year the traffic exchanges will be celebrating a decade of being online. Ten years ago, a little web site called ClickThru.net got it's start and quickly became what we know now as a traffic exchange. What's even better, Click Thru is still online to this day as well. So a special congratulations goes to them and thanks for having the vision to create these programs.

I always have a good laugh when I think back to 2002 when these programs were really starting to take off, and all I heard from the peanut gallery was how they would fail, and how they wouldn't last, and how they weren't effective, yadda yadda...Well...

Ten years later....Here we are!

Thank you very much for being a subscriber and enjoy Hit Exchange News!

The News

  • Steve Ayling just launched his brand new Residual Traffic System. This is much more than just a downline builder for traffic exchanges, it's a complete 'course' on how to grow your traffic residually and for free. A great new program from one of the most innovative owners online.
  • Another Massive Traffic Exchange Giveaway started on Jan. 1st. Six of some of the most popular exchanges on the net have combined to create a huge giveaway and so far the response has been huge! Be sure to check out the 6 exchanges and try to surf them until Jan. 6th, you never know what you will be awarded, just for surfing one of those programs.
  • We're only a few weeks away from the launch of Traffic Era, the new exchange from Logiscape. If anyone can remember the launch of their previous exchanges, this will prove to be a huge launch. Here's a tip, it's a great time to prepare some exchange specific URLs to be placed in Era when it launches, it's a great way to communicate with potential customers.
  • Jack Shafer, owner of Hit Pirate, launched his brand new exchange this week - Genie Traffic. I've had the pleasure to get to know Jack during the past few years and think this guy is one of the best owners in the business. I really hope his new exchange does great things and it's a very positive way to start off 2008!
  • Just a quick word about my Top 10 List in H.E.N. I'm getting quite a bit of heat from the way I rank exchanges (that's nothing new of course) but let me just say this....Folks, my Top 10 list is a guide only. It's not the be all and end all of traffic exchange rankings, it's my opinion and my best performers of the past week. You should be tracking your own numbers to discover your own top 10 list and never rely solely on this list or any exchange listing.
  • This Week's Splash Page Hall of Fame Entry is this page! Wow, wow, wow, wow. That's all I can say about this and I know Mr. Rich Morris must be loving this splash page too!

The HEN Top Ten results are based on traffic statistics (unique hits, traffic flow, hits delivered, traffic quality) and a touch of good old fashioned 'opinion'. The industry changes just like in the real world, so an exchange may not be on the list this week, but will be number 1 next week! Discuss this week's Top 10 list in the Net Marketing Forum!

Enjoy this week's list!

Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, Click Crazey and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. If you want to see how well they are performing each week, please check TestHoopla top 20 weekly ranking!

Deep Thoughts - Feature Articles

Why Do I Care About How Many Members Are In A Traffic Exchange?

I have many reasons for this, but here are a few of them. Reason one, the obvious would be the more members means more eye balls seeing your web sites. You have a much bigger reach in the massive traffic exchanges and these exchanges do the best job at attracting new members. So it means a constant flow of new surfers (and active members) viewing your sites.

Now before the lynch mob comes to take me out, let me explain something. I am NOT saying you should not surf the smaller membership exchanges, in fact I spend a good deal of time and money in exchanges with less than 5000 members. However! And this is a big however, the growth rate of that exchange should something you want to have a good grip on. For example, in every issue of I Love Hit's newsletter I divulge a lot of information most exchanges wouldn't dare to share. The biggest one, and I let this be known for a purpose, is the amount of new members that are coming through the doors each week. I love this stat and would be absolutely floored if all traffic exchanges did that. Why?

Because everyone wants to claim they are 'for the members' well the number I place in my updates is the biggest 'for the member' service a traffic exchange can offer. More members means an owner is busting their tail and the membership in said exchange is busting their tails to bring new surfers into the mix. Wow! Think about that the next time someone wants to throw the 'for the member' speech down your throat. Plain and simple, more members means more surfers looking at YOUR web pages. The more people looking at your pages week in and week out, means better results.

I love numbers! I love to let the membership of I Love Hits know that a few hundred new members joined them this week. That is the number I look at when I want to find out exactly how a T.E. is run. Demand that from all owners of your favorite exchanges and I can guarantee you, the ones that do the best to bring in the most active members, you will see the best results!

Program Review - Blue Surf

Potential! When I see this exchange, it just screams 'potential' to me. Here's the reason why I think this is one of the most important exchanges to watch for in the new year.

One - It's a custom script. The owner is a programmer and that means the guy can make the program to his liking. That can mean very big things. Think of StartXchange and how Tim Linden has custom built his program to fit his member's needs, I see the potential for this owner to do the same.

Two - It's extremely easy to navigate and use. Nothing complicated, just simple traffic. I love that about exchanges, I think some of the most powerful programs on the net keep it simple. Simple is good!

Those are a few things I love about this, the only two changes I think the program can make is to get rid of the 100 page surfing requirement to activate your account and it needs a kick butt design. These things are minor and the upside to this program is that it does have big big big potential.

Overall Rating: 4.0 Mouse Clicks (Rating out of 5.0)
