This may seem like a very selfish blog post, or it may even seem a bit ‘out there’ for a concept, but bare with me and let me explain to you why I feel that ’1′ has a lot of power in today’s world and business environment.

As you know, TimTech firmly believes in the +1 concept. Where you have to measure daily and small increases to further your business. Our belief is that if you focus on doing the daily tasks, every day and moving yourself forward you will see huge results down the road.

But the number 1 also has meaning to me specifically in other ways. I look at this as a representation of myself. I am one person. I believe in one God. I am responsible for one person’s actions (my own) and if I’m going to succeed or fail…It’s up to number 1 (me).

I told you this would be ‘out there’…

It’s also a positive number. In the computer world the language is binary, and that means on or off…One or zero. So the number 1 even in this space means positive! You should always be ‘on’ in this business. Always be positive and moving forward. The +1 method works and works so very well because the person that adopts this is always ‘on’…

O.K., I haven’t completely lost my mind…But I know this post may seem a bit odd. The point being, ONE is a very powerful and positive number in our environment. How will you make sure you are always ‘on’?

  1. Not odd at all, ok maybe slightly odd that you are using computer terms and binary, but really it’s consistent with what you’ve been saying for a while ;-)

  2. Hi Jon, I think this is a great post. 1 has taken on a whole new
meaning for me, since joining CTP. Yes you have been preaching to us how important it is for us to always do +1 every day.
This is such a simple but powerful motivator. To always just do
ONE more, and then ONE more :)

    Thanks
    Monika

  3. Thanks Monika – I think you are a shining example of how to ‘do this’ business. I hope people follow your example the most because you do get it and will have a very long career in this…Just by taking things slow =)

  4. Hey Jon,

I have believed and lived the +1 concept for years. I didn’t express it as well as you, but it has been at the core of my online marketing since 2007. :)

  5. Who says 1 is the loneliest number… because if your are doing +1 it is no longer just you! It is a team of you. Would you rather do it all alone or would you prefer to have a team? For me having 100 people doing what I do is much more powerful than me doing it all … so the long and the short of it… yes… +1 every day!

On a side note of 1… for those that are married it is key for you to think as 1. The symbolism is that you are bringing 2 together to form 1 unity!

    Thank you,
    Paul

  6. Great Post Jon! You are not selfish. We all need to focus on our selves in order to help others. It’s like we need to love ourselves before we can love anyone else. Number 1 is very important. It is totally up to us or me whether we or I will make it or not. Plus one everyday is very important and I am working on it.

  8. What Patrick said LOL

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate everyone’s input and thankfully you didn’t think I was crazy….LOL

  9. Whew . . . at first I thought you were gonna spiel some new WordPress Google plug-in LOL

I totally agree with you Jon – this post was “out there” . . .
but you make a good point.

I have a similar philosophy, always do at least a little something everyday to further my online business, even if it’s just building another back-link or ordering a new banner at Fiverr.

  10. I believe one should think of others first. Not thinking of self first. Is that not whats wrong with the world that leads to war. We are always thinking of self.

  11. Hi Jon, out there? I don’t think so. I believe in +1 and have for quite a long time. CTP is the embodiment of that philosophy.
Small steps taken consistently everyday leads to huge results over time. Persistence is the juice that makes this work. Consistency holds it all together.

Please be “out there” more often it’s lots of fun.

    Nick

  12. I like it. We can’t take responsibility for others but if we work on ourselves we can set a great example. I’m taking the a day at a time approach to CTP and seeing the results. Can hardly wait for 1+1+1+1+1 years to see what my results will be like then.

  13. Hi,

thanks for this post Jon. It really hits home for me. I was a Traffic Exchange user in 2009/2010 and I quit. This +1 really hits home for me, as long as I do something positive every day to build my name/brand, and to learn. There are many things I want to do but with a job, family my time to spend online is limited. I will keep track of my progress so that I don’t get discouraged.

P.S. I must say FANTASTIC job on CTP! It is easy, straightforward and gives everyone a starting point.

  14. Hi Jon

The #1 is important to help us understand ourselves, but you’ve given me an idea about the #2 and how we need to find someone else to help #1 achieve satisfaction.

When I finally get round to writing this concept down I’ll let you know.

    Andrew
