Best Biz Op Ever…Traffic Exchanges!
I was chit chatting with Tony Tezak today in Skype and he showed me something that really made me stop and smile. Tony paid out over 900 bucks in commissions this week. TimTech paid out over 1000! And I’m sure other companies and programs in the TE industry paid out even more…So it got me thinking…Why shop around when the good stuff is at home?
For over a decade, traffic exchanges (and related services) have been online, paying commissions, growing people’s businesses and still, most traffic exchanges are filled with here today, gone tomorrow programs. I mean, I understand our model and I understand the whole shiny object syndrome but still…We have something great, right in front of our face and it baffles me at times, why promoting TE’s, as a business opportunity, isn’t sexier?
Hey, you could even blame it on me I guess. For years I told people to not promote TE’s directly. And while I still maintain there are much more effective ways to build TE downlines and make commissions, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to promote something like Sweeva directly or TTP directly, when they are paying out almost 2k in commissions a week combined.
Makes you think huh?
Imagine an industry without shiny object syndrome…
Imagine if people upgraded, purchased credits in the TE’s, bought an upgrade at AdKreator or TEToolbox…
Now that’s a funny thought because that would mean, even more commissions for the industry. Real income being generated by affiliates. Earning 27 bucks a day for a year….Healthy growth, members supporting businesses that don’t disappear after 3 months. Crazy thoughts I know.
But it makes you think…What if?

Great post Jon. And I agree this industry has taken out of a place, where I made alot of money but was miserable there in the corporate world.
I don’t understand why people don’t upgrade more in good programs. They would make money if not right away eventually and come out on top in the long run.
Anyways my 2 or 3 cents.
Have a great weekend.
Hey Jon
There is a bit of gold in them there TE Hills
Promoting TEs and TE related services can be profitable – ask me
Was doing it long before I became a TE owner.
So folks, go grab yourself a unique, self-kreated splash and try your hand at making a bit of profit in the TE world.
I agree with you totally on this one.
Cheers!
Tony
Great Post Jon, I have been trying to get my members to see the benefits of upgrading for a while now. Not only are they getting better surf ratios but a chance to increase much needed income on top of it. If they have enough members referred that are also upgraded not only do they put money in their pocket but can also have their membership paid for the next month with the commissions they earn.
Jeff – one of life’s great mysteries. We have such a wealth of resources, income opportunities and great communities…Right here. But we look elsewhere to make money online…Weird.
Tony – Yessir. Gold for sure!
Hilbert – yes sir. Something we really try to teach in CTP for example, is the power of upgrading in the programs, and getting your downline to do the same…Everyone wins.
Nice one Jon!
This actually got me confused at first. I did read about not promoting TEs directly. But people who have done so do speak of the benefits.. not to mention the commissions! I guess I need some serious rethinking and perhaps some revisions in my marketing strategies. Thanks for making me think!

Welcome back, Jon!
Yeah, I have been preaching that same sermon, ever since I took up residency in the TE community.
You nailed it… IT’S JUST NOT SEXY! (and no promise of BIG $$)
Of course, there might be a few programs outside of the TimTech fences, that are worthy of the same consideration… lol
Carl
Shhh….. !!!
I’ve been secretly telling people this same thing for years. Now you’re letting the cat out of the bag with this blog post. LOL
What’s my business?
TRAFFIC
Everybody needs it. Everybody surfing TEs wants it or they would not be surfing, right?
NO BUSINESS is a sustainable as the business of traffic. It’s my bread and butter.
Rock on, Jon. Sell those upgrades for me. :~)

Yep- I agree Jon,
For me I still think that list building is the way to go, but I know its not everyone’s cup of tea.
Members are going to continue promoting products directly and those that promote traffic exchanges and/or related businesses are going to be the ones that get sign ups.
After all it is the common denominator that connects us all, no matter what our goals, our methods or anything else, we are all using traffic exchanges.
Hey, Jon!
I just realized that there are less than 4 days left on the 3rd Charity Water campaign.
And we have fallen a bit short… bummer!
Carl
One of the important things to consider is the commission structure you will gain as an affiliate. Cash speaks volumes so I try to look for TE’s or Tools which pay, at least, a 50% commission.
And yes, if you are going to promote a TE, by all means you should be an upgraded member so you will receive all the benefits, including higher commissions. Why do a ton of promoting and receive a 10% commission when you could be receiving 50% if you were upgraded. That’s just common sense to me.
William – Yeah I still think promoting TE’s and it’s services on the back end is very powerful, I just don’t mind seeing people saying ‘hey we are making some decent change here in the TE’s’
Carl – thank you sir, for sure!!! Need more sexy ads maybe…Olson in a thong surfing?
Scott – you nailed it man! We are evergreen!
Rose – thank you very much!
WOW Jon!
its funny to me how much this business means to people like me and its too funny that your post about this, cause I’m asking people to spend just 10 dollars today to try something new.
its good to have you back and its nice to see that talking about the business is still cool.
James
Great post Jon. I totally agree.. actually I make a lot of income every week from TEs (and viral list builders too). A real huge difference too is that people will always need advertising, opportunities come and go and people are pretty flaky to them – they may not stay subscribed long, but in TEs and other advertising sources people tend to keep the upgrades a lot longer because it’s an actual product they use to build their business! Same goes for resources like autoresponder, trackers… Providing the tools can be far more profitable than providing the opportunity
James – Yessir. Wish that 10 bucks was put into more upgrades and tools, imagine if everyone in the TE’s did that…Crazy!
Darren – Agreed! Ops come and go. Traffic stays!
Speaking of List Building William what most folks don’t realize I guess is that most of the TE’S also give you access to your referrals emails. This in a sense is a list builder for them also. It may not be pretty but it gets the job done and with the added bonus of random referrals with the upgrade it makes it easier to build that list. Jon Please don’t do the Thong LOL
Kinda hard to write this right now as I’m still chuckling at the mental image of you surfing in a thong! Eeeek! :O
You’re right on the money with this post…having tried various shiny opportunities, I now advertise only TEs and my tracker on the traffic exchanges. And happily, I am now being paid by those TEs and my tracker. Granted, it’s a small income at this point, but goshdarnit, it IS an income!
So no more shiny objects for me…I’m going to stick to the good old reliable traffic exchanges, and cheerfully surf, earn, and upgrade (though not necessarily in that order!) with the nice secure knowledge that the TE industry is not gonna disappear any time soon!
I used to catch hell because I was always promoting TEs, LOL. But the bottom line is, promoting TEs and list builders is how I earn the bulk of my money online.
And I completely agree with Catherine….if you’re going to promote TEs, for goodness sakes, UPGRADE! There’s a lot more money to be earned as an upgraded member than you’ll ever make as a free member.
Easy subject Jon. If TE owners would pay either weekly or by the end of the month as upgrades are required, there could be much more money made with just the tools of the trade only. Remember this too, many of the new people coming to TE’s already have a product or service, they are looking for more eyeballs to look at them. The single biggest problem with most TE owners is that they put you through a hassle to get your commission but your upgrade is due NOW or you convert back to free member. Good Example: Deb and I belonged to this Royal site that shall remain nameless. We were both make at least 3 to 4 times per month what the monthly membership fee was. Hit Cash Out: your account will be audited and in 24 to 48 hours you will be paid. A week or so later, we got paid. How do they expect any one to use their service and attempt to run a legitimate online business that way. If you budget for a month, which we do, we also expect to be paid by the end of the month as any reasonable business. So, Down Goes The Royal TE, enough of that crap and we told him WHY and he seemed to care less, lol. It amazes me. I sincerely think that most TE Users would rather build an income with TE’s and other tools of the trade, but how do you convince the TE owners that businesses operate on a monthly or weekly basis, Theirs as well as Ours!
Sam
Hey Jon,
I agree as well. You ALWAYS earn more as an upgraded member.
I don’t really agree with you. If everyone would be upgrading and promoting TEs, sure it would be all cool and dandy(especially for TE owners LOL) but seriously, where does all the money come from? It wouldn’t be a sustainable business model because it would depend on constantly bringing in new people to get money from, much like those fake product MLMs… The truth is you need a real product at the base, one that brings value in itself I mean, not one that is just being used as an excuse to transfer money between people…
@ 4chan
I see what you’re saying and you would be correct IF the ONLY thing being sold was TE upgrades, or if the only money being made was via TE commissions.
That’s not the case.
If there is no other money coming in from ANYTHING other than TE upgrades it would not be sustainable indefinitely as you pointed out. It would be similar to PTC sites or the failed autosurf ponzi schemes that we popular several years ago.
Added or increased commissions is only one reason to upgrade. Referring upgraded members (or any referrals at all for that matter) is NOT required in order to justify an upgrade.
Think of it like a CPA or CPC network. If you are monetizing your traffic properly you can afford to pay for it. Or with a TE upgrade you are making more efficient use of your time surfing by upgrading and earning 2 ~3 times more traffic. With the proper conversion process in place, the upgrade pays for itself in increased traffic and sales.
The real product, that brings value in itself for the upgrade, is increased traffic. I have several upgrades that I maintain even WITHOUT referring others. The upgrades are justified by the increased traffic.
Where does the money come from?
Whatever you’re selling. Preferably you are using your traffic to first build your list, then making recommendations to that list.
Commissions from others who join TEs and upgrade after you is only icing on the cake… but it sure can be a lot of icing.
Hi Jon
Surprised no one has mentioned this, but let’s think about who really made money when the gold rush started?
It was the people who set up business selling spades, shovels, and refreshments to the people who were looking for the gold!
When one person stops digging another is soon along to replace them, and if they do find some they would spend more on equipment to get even more.
So if you’re TE provides results then the gold digger will upgrade and tell their friends where they bought their shovels.
Compare this to a TE which claims the upgrade will make the gold appear then you have an unstainable model and it will soon collapse – I think this is point being made by 4Chan.
Last point, build your list first and use downline builders in your marketing funnel.
Andrew
Great post, It is amazing when you look at some of the names on the mass pay files for commissions and see that a lot of them are not program owners they just promote traffic exchanges and traffic exchange tools
Maybe more people should think before opening a normal new basic traffic exchange as many do that there may actually be more money in promoting an existing one instead of opening one themselves and I am sure you will agree Jon that the work needed to promote an existing one is a lot less than actually running one lol
