Issue 231 - SWAT Traffic Re-Launches & Other Juicy Stuff

Author: The T.E. Guy

I was in a great mood this week. A very good mood indeed because SWAT Traffic got re-launched yesterday. I caught a bit of heat in the forums because of people questioned why I should re-launch this program. There was a few reasons, and yes, ego was involved. I can admit it, I am never happy with my programs and I want to make them the best they can be. The thing was almost two years old, it had the same design it always did and I really wanted to let the traffic exchanges know about the changes at SWAT.

The big push at SWAT Traffic is the Captain member upgrades. Last night we had an absolute packed house and I anticipate an even bigger turn out next week. These events are the bread and butter of the program and I’m so honored to see everyone talk so high about them.

I use a lot of terms like ‘must attend events’ and I really do mean it. This business I have learned is all about who you know. The people you align yourself with are the folks that will help you in growing your business. Sure, you need to take the bull by the horns and get things done, but your network is that ’secret weapon’. They are the gems in this business and in my case, they all hang out in the SWAT Traffic seminar room!

Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News

- Easy Hits 4 U just won my award for ‘best new feature of the month’ in any traffic exchange. Geo targeting. You can now decide which part of the globe you want your sites seen. Want people only in America to see your site, no problem. Want people only in Europe to see it, you can do it now at Easy Hits. Amazing new feature!

- I’ve sent two emails to you about it, and I cannot stop talking about Soren Jordansen’s IM Success Formula! This e-book has quickly become one of the most talked about ’systems’ online. And while so many have downloaded it, so few will actually do what Soren suggests in the book. There is no more excuses after anyone reads this book, it really is the blueprint for making money online.

- 15,000 members have now joined Royal Surf. Wow. It’s been an absolute joy to watch Michael Kelly’s program grow from zero members to now 15k over the past few years. This really is one of the better programs online and Mr. Kelly does an amazing job with it. Congrats to him and all the RS members!

- Want to win your own copy of the best selling traffic exchange book on Amazon.com, Hits, Clicks and Misses, (actually, it’s the only published book about T.E.’s on the planet), simply post a comment about this week’s issue of HEN! Congratulations to ‘Edmund’ for winning last week. Be sure to send your mailing address to me so that I can ship you a copy (hitexchangenews at yahoo dot com)!

- Splash Page Hall of Fame - Yeah I’m biased this week! SWAT Traffic has a new mascot, problem is , he doesn’t have a name. We need one, give us one we like and you could win a Flip video camera! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

HEN Top 10

The Famous Hit Exchange News Top 10 (Disclaimer: These are my top performing exchanges for the past week. Alexa rankings and fancy numbers have nothing to do with how I rank my list. This is based on my results and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.)

1. Easy Hits 4 U
2. Traffic Splash
3. Dragon Surf
4. Hit Safari
5. Traffic Era
6. Traffic Bunnies
7. Advertising Know How
8. Traffic At The Races
9. StartXChange
10. Lords of Traffic

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits, SWAT Traffic and Click Crazey are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts - Jon’s Weekly Rambling

The Perfect Traffic Exchange Surfer

If you have ever surfed a traffic exchange, chances are you have heard of Tony Tezak, one of the most active and successful traffic exchange users to ever pick up a mouse. It got me thinking, because of Tony’s success at surfing the exchanges, what would be my idea of the perfect surfer? What kind of personality is required to do really well at traffic exchange advertising? What does that person need to ‘do’ to become successful?

The perfect surfer must be dedicated. They must not get discouraged if they see their numbers drop, and they must not get too excited if they see their numbers soar. ‘Steady as she goes’ seems to be the best way to go. Have a goal and work towards it. If you want to hit 1,000 hits a day, work on a plan and stay focused until your reach that number.

The perfect surfer must NOT rely on their downline. Sure, it’s great to get the residual traffic that traffic exchanges provide, but they must not be afraid to get in front of their computer and click for an hour or so each day. Not only does this help the industry as a whole, it helps the clicker know what works for promoting different pages and what does not.

The perfect surfer must spend money. Yes, folks we are all trying to run some kind of business, and while the traffic exchanges are free to use, buying traffic or upgrading in various exchanges is something everyone should look at. I mean, let’s be real, your fingers do start to get tired after a session on I Love Hits, invest wisely in a traffic exchange that gives you the best bang for your buck and then get back to clicking the next day!

The perfect surfer must understand how traffic exchanges work. The more they understand the more they become effective promoters. They know that you won’t be able to sign up any referrals on a copy cat affiliate site that reads like an e-book, they know how to create smart and catchy squeeze / splash pages.

And finally the perfect surfer must have fun while surfing. Yes, it takes a lot of time and yes it becomes ‘boring’ but they are excited because they know with each and every click, that could mean a new lead and or a referral. If you do not have a love for what you are doing, you should not be doing it. This is why this could be the GREATEST industry to get involved in, because I don’t know about you, but I love these programs!

Are you a perfect surfer? I know I’m always working at becoming one myself! =)

    Great Job Jon,
Relaunch was fantastic, Swat Room was even better. So great to see that many in the room at one time.
Can’t wait to see more new people come in. If you haven’t upgraded yet at Swat, what are you waiting for?

    Good on ya Jon!

Where have you been? Webmaster Quest has been doing geo targeting for years :)

  4. Posted by Salvador Calderon 18th September, 2008 at 4:25 pm

I implemented geotargeting at supervisitas.com since it’s beginning in 2004

Jerry lol Oh yeah? Says something about how visible WMQ is these days. Maybe an update or two from the owner might bet me back in there…

Sorry folks, never meant to say it was revolutionary and something never seen before. Just said it was a very cool new feature to Easy Hits. In fact, there was an exchange created by the owners of Top Surfer years ago, that’s entire theme was geo targeting. I think it’s called geo traffic?

    Hey Jon

PS: SuperSurf now working A-OK, and in case you get any more queries, you might ask whether they are sure that they have entered two NUMBERS and three USERNAMES!

Yeah the Geo targeting is a cool feature. Bionic Hits was the first traffic exchange to add that feature in July 2002. Regional Hits copied it 6 months later in Feb 2003 and built their exchange around it, It was built and owned by Top Surfer who couldn’t make it work and it was given away in a contest to one of it’s members and has changed hands 4 times since then. I am a walking talking Traffic Exchange fact encyclopedia. Been in this business since 1994 when the original traffic exchange launched and when it comes to the history of traffic exchanges I know it all.

I didn’t see Traffic Heroes on the Hit Exchange News Award of Excellence list. Must have been a oversight. When it comes to hit exchanges who provide members with reliable service, superior support, useful features and quality traffic Traffic Heroes should rank high on that list, putting away all feelings someone may have of the owner we strive to be the best traffic exchange.

September has been the busiest month we have ever had. While we were down for two day’s because of server problems with our host that were beyond our control and they happen to every exchange sooner or later we have already doubled surfing for any month since we have been open since Jan 2007 and it’s only the 19th of the month. Quality traffic is a understatement. On the weekends we are delivering over 50,000 hits in a single day. Support between my administrator and myself is available 24 hours per day. Sonja takes the first 12 hours and I take the second 12 hours staying up all night until Sonja comes on at 6AM. When one of us needs time off we have a part time support person that relieves us and provides support. We have unique features like our Search for Heroes game and more being added in the next few months. We change our design and keep it fresh every year and always have new fresh award winning splash pages and banners for our members. Not bad for a small exchange with just over 6500 members! If Traffic Heroes doesn’t deserve the award their is something wrong! The owner might be a jerk but the traffic exchange deserves recognition. It was also rated 4 stars out of five by the Hit Exchange News when it launched and has been on the HEN top 10 back when it was a much smaller exchange.

Jon is right about WMQ. Since being purchased years ago the new owners sent out 1 newsletter when they first took it over and none since. You very, very rarely see a advertisement for it or TrafficG. Too bad because they both could be top exchanges if they were run correctly!

Thank you Jon, we very much appreciate your support

Rich - Stick the award up, wonderful things will happen.

That’s right, regional hits. I was thinking geo traffic was the name but regional hits was it. top surfer gave it away as a prize one year.

Hmmm - walking TE encyclopedia. You should write something sir…

Wow! Thanks Jon for the kind words regarding RoyalSurf! As you well know, it’s all about the members.

Like you, I’m never satisfied with the status quo. Literally, every day I’m trying to think of new ways to bring in new people, keep them active, and deliver better results.

I owe a special thanks to all those who’ve supported RoyalSurf over the years. Most especially, our loyal members, and of course you too, Jon. I really appreciate the well timed advice and support you’ve given me over the years!

Jon, I think you should have a new slogan…

“When the TE Guy Talks, Successful TE Owners Listen!” ;)
