Issue 254 – A Traffic Exchange With No Surf Ratio? Huh?
I sent a quick update yesterday about Jeff Dedrick’s re-release of his massively popular e-book Hidden Sales Project and so far, the response has been very well received.
Here’s a BIG book, it’s 120 pages of content, that focuses on what I consider to be THE MOST important aspect of online business…The sales process and how to effectively sell online. However, stuff like this just never seems to be a popular topic.
Are people scared of ‘selling’? Is the concept of online sales such a big mountain to climb that it scares away would be marketers? I’m not sure the reasons, but online selling is a topic I think should be discussed as much as possible.
You see, no matter what happens, whether you are promoting a squeeze page in the traffic exchanges or sending an email to your list, selling is always taking place. Sure, there are dozens of factors that influence whether or not a subscriber may purchase your product, but it all adds up and unless your sales process is fine tuned, you could be missing out big time.
My recommendation? Become a student of selling and learn from the masters. Want a great free resource, then pick up Jeff’s Hidden Sales Project. But then take it one step further…
Read books by Jeffrey Gitomer, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Mark Joyner…Learn why people buy what they buy, how to creatively sell to your market and create buzz around your business. Always be trying to further your knowledge of sales and selling as it’s THE most important subject you need to work on daily in your business.
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News
- The first traffic exchange with no surf ratio? Huh? List Surfing is a brand new program that got launched today and puts an interesting twist on the ever lovable LJ Script. This thing is pretty cool too, you get unlimited page views as long as your account is active and you don’t surf for ‘page views’, you surf for e-mail credits to send solo ads to other members. Neat concept, let’s see how people like it =)
- Ahhhh I love it…More traffic exchanges working together! The big April Referral Contest has started at Hit Safari, Hit Pirate, Real Hitz 4 U and Soaring 4 Traffic. They are giving away over $1200 in cash and prizes and should prove to be very popular. *Golden Nugget* Traffic exchange specific pages in these 4 exchanges would be a very good idea!
- Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!
- Splash Page Hall of Fame – Yes, I do think the April Referral Contest is going to be a lot of fun….Great splash page! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Rambling
Here’s A Suggestion…Don’t Get Your Kids To Click For You!
In the T.E. Owner’s section of Net Marketing Forum there is an interesting thread about adult content in the traffic exchanges. Since these things have existed, certain adult sites have always found their way into rotation. Sure, most traffic exchanges do not allow it but maybe we should start…
Huh?
Now before I get the lynch mob after me, let me explain. One of the issues that comes up from time to time is that people do not want to see adult sites in rotation because their children may see it. However, I tend to think the people who may complain about that actually have their children surfing for them.
That was the shock and awe part of this article, the message I am trying to get across is once again, treat every site in rotation like you would like yours to be treated. That means not getting cheat software to surf for you, not getting your kids to click, or even your neighbors kids. All joking aside, I still maintain this industry thrives when we treat each others pages with respect.
So the whole ‘adult sites’ in rotation was just me trying to stir it up, and I’M NOT saying we should start allowing those sites. Please put away the pitch forks LOL However we should always been looking at ways to keep OUR eyes on the pages in rotation. The more attention we get to each others sites, the better the results will be across the board.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…
- What is going on with Alert Pay? Please don’t become another statistic…
- Has anyone else noticed the amount of Twitter updates about ‘making money with traffic exchanges’?
- I’m back from Vegas. I survived 6 days with Soren Jordansen, John Merrick, Jon Atwood and Cindy Battye…

It should be interesting to see how the “no surf ratio” traffic exchange works out. Should be an interesting concept.
The first ever “no surf ratio” exchange seems to be melting down.
Maybe they should have left them in, LOL.

Nah, my kiddies don’t surf for me, I do it all myself… BUT…. they are in the room or right beside me while I work (the benefit of being a work @ home parent) so they do get an eyeful from time to time. That’s why I prefer no adult sites when I’m surfing. If I didn’t want them in the room with me, I’d go to an office somewhere. :0) Just my opinion.
Thanks Jon for your comments on the April Contest and the Splash Hall of Fame.
Credit due to Justin, the man just has creative talent.

The concept of a TE is “You look at mine and I’ll look at yours”. People should DEFINITELY be surfing for themselves. Kudos to Crystal and others that do! I know that some people don’t though – they even brag about it! They may as well be out shoplifting.
Tom
I had people tell me they get there kids to surf for them before so I know it is being done. When they couldn’t find their account anymore they would get upset because they didn’t know it was considered cheating to get someone to surf for you. I would just remind them that they agreed to our terms before they joined and it was clearly stated like it is in most traffic exchanges that you are not allowed to have family members or pay anyone to surf for you.
Interesting top 10. During Traffic Splashes largest promotion yet they dropped down to #4. Looks like Paul gave away all that money for nothing! He could have saved all the money and still be in first place. Very Interesting indeed!
Rich Morris
Rich, TS is a constant top 5 exchange for me….The top 10 is my best performers for the past week….Nothing more, nothing less.
Jon, bravo! You grabbed attention with your tongue in cheek regarding allowing adult content on TE’s. Grabbing attention is the key to IM.
Understanding you were joking, it does however stimulate thought, questions in one’s mind.
Before everyone throws rocks at me I believe in clean thinking/living and NEVER view porn sites. I am a very happily married grandfather with a 10 month old at home (my body functions work well).
I firmly believe that every business owner should have the right to make his/her own business decisions, in the case of TE’s what advertising they will and will not allow.
All that behind us, it appears to me that there is a ‘mob rule,’ growing clique if you will, of ‘me too’ TE’s regarding TOS unacceptable advertising (adult, investments, auto-surfs, etc, etc, etc.).
So Mr, Ms, Miss, Mrs TE owner. Are your personal business decisions actually yours, or are you merely following the leaders allowing them to make your business decisions?
Hey, I am NOT objecting to any owner making their own decisions and it is perfectly OK with me if all of the customarily banned advertising continues to be banned forever. I am definitely in favor of freedom, and freedom includes a business owner deciding what their business will and will not do. -Max Ziegler The Philippines-
Dear Jon,
My kids are grown and live far away. I still do not like adult sites. Partly because you can get the AD across with a splash without the pictures of sex acts and nude people. [The fact is humans for the most part are not that good looking nude].
Maybe its my trial run at a forum and the many hours deleting adult sites that posted despite the rules. To say nothing of hackers that use adult subjects to spread worms and viral traps to unsuspecting surfers.
But adult sites should be forced to use non adult picture splashes to advertise on traffic exchanges. Just my opinion.
thanks
warren
I think Warren is correct. Adult sites should be allowed to advertise on TE’s as long as nothing explicit is shown and the language used is “family friendly”.
Geting your children to surf for you is not being fair to other TE users who are doing the right thing. It’s just not in the spirit of the game!!!! Shame.
Cheers,
Doug.
Spot on, Jon. There is so much ‘legal’ cheating going on, it always amazes me how people used to tout being cheat-proof. It seems the cheat argument has really dropped in the past year.
