Issue 258 – Sardine Cans, Pints of Beer and Traffic Exchanges…
Lots of cool stuff to announce this week, as well as a ‘meeting of the minds’ across the pond in Bristol this weekend. Before I get into that, I wanted to send a special congratulations to my good friend Jack Schafer and his traffic exchange Hit Pirate.
Jack announced this week that Hit Pirate hit the 10,000 member milestone and while this doesn’t make HP the biggest traffic exchange out there, what it does is show people that persistence and doing this ‘part time’ can translate into something special.
People that know Jack, know the guy works a lot of hours at his offline job and even though he does, Hit Pirate is run like a full time gig. So congrats to Jack and his dedication to his craft. Here’s to another 10,000 sir, keep it coming!
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

3. Traffic Taxis
4. Dragon Surf

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Rambling
Something I Touched On Earlier…
I mentioned Sunny Suggs’ release of All About Traffic Exchanges in the News this week and wanted to stress a point I tried to make in the news brief.
You see, this industry is buzzing. Traffic exchanges continue to grow by leaps and bounds and we have more six and seven figure operations than ever before. Seems like a sure bet, get a new traffic exchange launched and presto, you have instant income. However, for anyone who has ever tried to launched a new program, they can tell you, it’s not always greener on the other side.
Sure you’ll have gems like Traffic Witch and Top Tier Traffic that get released from time to time, but the majority of new traffic exchanges fail to make a profit after the first few months if ever. Why is that?
I’ll give you my opinion and please do comment below on how you feel too. I think it’s my fault. I have stressed for YEARS how important it is to own your own business online and not just be an affiliate for people, and while this does make sense for most, the problem is that a lot of these people are choosing a ‘traffic exchange’ as the model.
Now this is my point in all this, we have so many new people coming into this business, why not cater to them and create traffic exchange related products and services. For example, Affiliate Funnel is arguably a traffic exchange related service and has been a massive success…Because Paul and I are trying to cater to the traffic exchange market. Another example, Steve Ayling’s TE Blaster co-op service. The perfect companion for every traffic exchange user…Two TE related products, very successful programs that cater to the TE community without having to be a ‘new TE’.
There is BIG potential in this business and with a little bit of work and creativity, you could have the next big thing in this business. I just do not think right now it will be a new TE, but rather a product or service that a savvy marketer creates to cater to then thousands upon thousands of new surfers coming online every day…

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…
- Have you added your mailing address to your Profile at I Love Hits? Make sure you do so I can potentially ship you a free coffee mug, t-shirt or other goodies, exclusive to I Love Hits!
-Instead of filing Pay Pal disputes, how about emailing a traffic exchange owner to try to resolve the issue. Even better, once the dispute has been resolved, how about you cancel the ‘dispute’ against the business…
- Speaking of which, if you are a traffic exchange owner, be sure to join Net Marketing Forum and private message me for access to our private owner’s forum, where we shed light on the people who do tend to ‘file disputes’ constantly…

Hey Jon,
As you know I launched Major League Hits about 17 months ago to very little fanfare.
In fact, I think 4 people, including you, may have made mention of it in a newsletter or email they sent out to their subscribers on launch.
Through the sweat of my brow and listening to some really savvy people I have been able to grown that to 8,900 members as of today.
Having said all of that, I agree that launching a new traffic exchange is not the best of ideas at this time unless you have really good partners at your back AND a new twist on the concept like Darren Olander did with ListSurfing.
Still, I will say that even if you don’t have a new concept or lots of partners you CAN turn a poor performing business into one that brings in a steady income IF you are willing to learn and put in a lot of effort to test, track, and tweak things.
A couple of months after I launched MLH I was only bringing in about $200-$300 per month. In April I brought in over $2500 per month in sales alone and several hundred more in affiliate income. So I think with a little hard work and a lot of learning and discipline you can turn something like a TE into something great if you really have the drive.
I don’t plan on ever launching another traffic exchange unless I sell the one I currently own (even though I “co-own” HelpHits it really is Connie’s show now).
I do agree that a TE related service is the way to go now.
I’ve always appreciated your views on the industry and the longer perspective that you have had.
Thanks again for something new to think on!
Mike Coursey
I certainly agree there are a lot of TE’s. Many
of them not very good. I think the main reason
people start TE’s is to build their list, just like
a lot of present TE owners did.
With a captive audience, an owner can promote,
promote and promote some more.
The line “to stop ‘information’ please delete
your account” at the bottom of most TE’s
says it all.
Hi Jon.
Although there may have been a brief moment I thought about owning a traffic exchange, I decided to leave that up to the gals and guys who are running successful ones.
I’ll just do my part to help with their success by using them to brand myself, build my lists and grow my business.
It’s a very exciting time in the traffic exchange industry and I’m just glad to be part of it.
Jimmy Adames
Totally agree Jon. I thought about doing a TE for a long time, then I realized how nuts the idea was without serious resources to make it successful.

Hey Jon
I was hoping you would have given Listsurfing another mention with 5000 membership in just over 4 weeks since launch on April 2nd.
PayPal lets you file disputes for TE services?
I was not getting an answer from a TE owner that I had paid for a year’s upgrade and got locked out after a month, and I tried to file a dispute after a half dozen attempts in a month’s time…and PP told me that type of service is not covered in their Dispute Resolution Program.
So I’m really scratching my head over this information.
Anyway, as far as the sardine can goes, I don’t know why, but I always enjoy flying, and I like it when there is turbulence. Heh heh.
Although I heard recently of a woman whose neck was broken while sitting in the ‘loo” and there was MAJOR turbulence. THAT I would not like.
Maybe they should put seat belts in there.
Just wanted to say it was great going to Bristol to meet everyone and cant wait to do it again, What happens when you put 3 UK traffic exchange owners in a bar for 16 hours straight…… mmmm well not much work lol
plenty of drinking tho steve! lol
was great to see you again dude, and to get my photo taken with THE duck!
having a great day today just playing catchup. seminars are fabtastic, good fun, great to meet new people, do deals, exchange ideas etc but man oh man, this is the first time since I started that I’ve been offline for a whole week and I very much doubt i’ll ever do it again!
