Issue 267 – And Now For Something Old…But New!
This may not be ‘new’ technology. In fact, it’s quite old in ‘techy’ age. However, no one has done this in the traffic exchanges and I’m honored to be a part of it. A few weeks ago, David Foley from Traffic Taxis and myself were brainstorming ideas back and forth.
As you know, the ‘Jackpot’ surf has been a smashing success but the number one complaint has been the amount of emails that got sent. We listened. And we are proud to announce the first desktop application for the traffic exchanges.
We call it the Promotional App and basically how it works is that you download a small file to your computer and it runs on your system tray (for the non-techies like myself, that’s the bar on the bottom of your screen). Every time there is a surf session, promotional session, jackpot surf, or even in the future, a new issue of H.E.N., a small window or chime comes up and let’s you know.
Why did we do this? A few reasons but the main thing was to offer a new way to communicate with surfers. This will feature all the Jackpot surf sites as well as this newsletter but the possibilities are endless.
As a surfer (yes, I still surf for hours a day) I would love to know where the best ratios are, where the specials are and when the sessions are starting…The best part, I don’t need to check email to find it out, I will know WHILE I’m surfing.
We’d love to give you a test ride, or now you will need a Taxis user name and you can download the App right here. Give it a whirl, let us know what you think and please note, there are still tweaks to be done. This is going to be a decent little app so lots of attention is going into right now, but it’s not perfect LOL Let us know if you find any bugs…
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News
- I announced this earlier in the week, two of the best people in this business are about to launch something very special. Click Bank Pirate is the brain child of Soren Jordansen and Cindy Battye and it’s going to launch next week on Tuesday. However, you can get VIP access by adding yourself to the pre-launch list here. You are going to love it!
- Take a look at StartXchange! It’s about to hit 60,000 members! This is arguably one of the best exchanges in T.E. history and I’m very very happy for Mr. Linden. Couldn’t happen to a better guy. Congrats to Tim and the entire SXC membership!
- Notice: Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!
- Splash Page Hall of Fame – Like I mentioned before, this is going to be absolutely HUGE! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

2. Tezak Traffic Power
3. Traffic Splash
4. Dragon Surf
5. Traffic Witch
6. Farm Traffic
7. Max Traffic Pro
8. Easy Hits 4 U

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Rambling
A People Business? Seems To Be What Can You Do For Me…
Maybe I’m old school. Maybe I’m just thinking too much into this but I like to work and promote with people I like. However, it seems that in this day and age, it’s what can you do for me. I’m pretty loyal to certain guys in this business and would go to war for them, and ya, it benefits me to help them out, but regardless, they are who I consider my friends, people I have respect for and people I like being around.
Strange huh?
Actually working with people you like. I’ve been really trying to focus on the ‘people’ side of things lately in my seminars at Affiliate Funnel and SWAT Traffic. We forget sometimes that there are PEOPLE behind all the user names, fancy graphics and cool squeeze pages.
Yes, this business is about who you know but I dunno, I guess I’m thinking out loud here and really want to start working with the people I like more than working with people that can benefit me the most…
Guess this isn’t so much of an article, but more about what’s going on inside Olson’s head these days. I remember why I got into this business and what attracted me so much to the traffic exchanges, it was the people I met in the business…

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…
- August 4th…Mark the date down…
- 10 years later, people still think unique traffic is important on the T.E.’s…
- Gone to Edmonton for the weekend. It’s my kid’s 8th birthday…Geeez time flies.

great concepts
Sweet stuff! Innovations are always welcome in the TE’s! That’s how we grow.
I just hope the new Promotional App plays a sweet sound like the HighRoller Notifier!

An app that sits in the System tray is fine for those who use PCs, but it leaves us Mac users out. Sunny of BootScootinTraffic has a nifty Firefox thing. Any chance of doing a Firefox add-on that can alert us to the Jackpots?
I downloaded the app. 4 minutes ago; and I already LOVE IT!!!!
My props to the creator and it is a very useful app!
No excuse to miss a jackpot now.
never done before? that is weird, i launch mine 1 week ago-)

Kjell

You can talk to me here on the broadcaster-)
Kjell
Whoa LOL Dude. TTP was being talked about last year in a seminar in Washington DC, waaaaaay before your exchange was conjured up. As for the broadcaster or what you call it, ask David Foley about it, this has been in the works for months, you had nothing to do with it, sorry man. Kudos for launching first, but save me the ‘you stole it from me’ bit. Let’s not start a ruckus please.
Yeah right, fun i always launch things first before you guys, but am happy you like my work, keep up the good work-)))
Sure man, whatever makes you sleep better at night….Got businesses to run, don’t have time to play with you today Kjell.
Kjell, the base design for Tezak Traffic Power was completed in March 2008.
I just took a look at DST and I don’t see much similarity between our designs. The thought had never even crossed my mind that you copied us and I still don’t think you did.
The universe is vast and design possibilities infinite. Traffic Planets had a space theme too but I’m pretty sure neither of us were thinking about their design when we did ours too. There’s just no comparison.
I don’t complain about the dolphin or splash themed exchanges that have sprung up since I took over Traffic-Splash and that’s far more plagiaristic than either you or I have been.
I don’t complain about all the exchanges that have Surf Rewards either, or Flipper copies, or other things. I’m actually quite proud Surf Rewards has been stolen so often the term is now generic.
Just means I have to keep coming up with new stuff to stay ahead of those who keep stripping away my USP’s one by one. Annoying, but no biggie.
Life’s too short to be so worried about these things dude. All I do is just keep making my biz the best it can be for my members. Seems to work and makes me a Happy Splasher too!
I’m with Paul on this one. Over the past 9 years Logiscape has seen many of its conceptions “used” by exchanges that followed. But I never came into forums or blogs and posted about how so-and-so stole our ideas, etc. It’s just not good business form. Now, if somebody completely rips off your entire program (which one exchange did – completely copying ts25), then by all means stand up.
But a little idea here and a little idea there, no big deal. The fact that more than one exchange wants to use the idea or concept means that it was probably a good one. It’s when nobody wants to “copy” you that you have a problem!
And the last thing to consider is that often things are in the works for months or maybe even a couple years, so it is hard to pull the “copy” card since others may have had the same idea as you and been working on it simultaneously. In the case of this desktop app, Logiscape also has one in development for a future project and this was started many many months ago.
I dont complain-).After Puddy took his mod under his arm and left (or Kicked out) of the supersurf, its nice you have found a new way to cooporate-)
I just said i am glad you like my work and people are not stupid, even you act like they are.
Have a nice weekend
