Issue 269 – Are You Surfing For The Right Reasons?

Author: Jon Olson

I just got back from a nice little run around the Canadian Rockies with my family and have been looking forward to writing this issue of Hit Exchange News for quite sometime. It’s great to get away but there is something I love about this business and being able to comment on it each and every week…

Traffic exchanges have come a long way. What’s remarkable about this business model is that for years, people have over looked them and they still perform. While some internet marketers swear by PPC and search engine optimization, others like myself, prefer the ‘free route’.

We STILL have thousands of new surfers coming online each and every week, one look at the list at Affiliate Funnel’s Top Traffic Exchanges and you can add up and see thousands upon thousands of new surfers.

The fact is traffic exchanges continue to grow by leaps and bounds, each and every week.

Are you grabbing your slice of the pie? Are you creating traffic exchange specific splash and squeeze pages that target these movers and shakers? Are you tracking and testing your results?

Make sure your exchange campaigns are performing because there is a LOT of new people coming online and they will be looking for good advice from good people. You may be new too, but think about this, every day if you are learning something new in this business, you know more about it then someone who will join in a day or so…

Keep your name in front of these new surfers, constantly and over a period of time and you will see some great results!

Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News

- Some are calling it the IM Success Formula of 2009 and I tend to agree. Guido Nussbaum’s Guru Ambush has been very well received since it was released a few days ago. This is the blue print to the Traffic Witch owner’s rise from zero income to over six figures in less than a year. It’s some pretty powerful stuff and you can grab the blueprint for free right now!

- Super Surf was back…Kinda! Last week I Love Hits, Traffic Splash, StartXChange and Tezak Traffic Power had a soft run of a new Super Surf script that we are going to implement in the future. It was a smashing success and get ready because when this puppy is all set up, surfing will never be the same again!

- Notice: Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!

- Splash Page Hall of Fame – So how do you follow up the biggest launch in recent TE memory? How about a joint promo with Mr. Kinder… Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

2. StartXChange
3. Tezak Traffic Power
4. Dragon Surf
5. Traffic Swarm

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Rambling

More Things I’ve Noticed…

Folks, if you make any money by promoting or surfing a traffic exchange…It’s a bonus!

Something that has got me scratching my head lately is this new wave of surfer that feels they are owed commissions and surfing bonuses just from using the exchanges. It’s the only reason people seem to surf at all these days.

It’s not for what you promote anymore, it’s not about building your own business, it’s all about making money from surfing. Wow.

Are you building your own list? No I’m surfing for a penny.

Are you branding your own name? No I’ve decided to only surf the exchanges that pay me cash.

It’s getting crazy. I know I stated a few issues ago that I’m done trying to fight this new movement, but wow folks, when did how much money you can make from promoting a traffic exchange decide how effective it was?

I’m living in the past, I know, but I miss the days when we judged a traffic exchange on how it performed first, and everything else was a bonus. There is nothing wrong with commissions, I love getting them, but our focus has shifted…Big time.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…

- Are you a member of CB Pirate? If so, please do NOT promote the main link in the traffic exchanges…Use the squeeze pages!

- Tim Linden’s blog rocks, but I’ve been really enjoying this one from Jerry Iannucci!

- ‘You will never get rich working for someone else, you need your own business…’ – K. Wayne Olson (My pops!)

    Hi Jon.

Although it’s tempting to jump into the parade of opportunities to earn some cash bonuses and contests I fight the urge to get off track to the ultimate goal of self-branding and list building using traffic exchanges.

It’s awesome when I make a few extra bucks but I maintain my schedule and if the TE’s I consistently surf are having surfing contests then it’s a bonus.

The mentality of surfing for money does water down the true use of this awesome platform, but I’m confident that in the end those who use it just for that will disappear anyway.

    To your continued success.

    Hi Jon

You sure have done a lot for the TE world over the years. As a newbie owner, I appreciate what you do! :)

    Cheers

I’m like you, consistant, and that’s how I surf. I have my favorite places where I get the best results, and that’s where I surf. And like you said, if I earn a few bucks in rewards or bonuses, great, but that’s not what makes an exchange appealing to me. As a matter of fact, I hate it when everyone’s surfing at once to win a jackpot or whatever it may be,too many surfing really slows down the surf and also it’s quite obvious people are not seeing your ads, they’re just surfing for what they can get.

    As always,
I love reading your hit exchange news!

Wow! Finally someone else is seeing this shift. Seems like surfers and owners alike have forgotten what exchanges are supposed to do.

    Advertise…….

    Hi Jon!

Sure, cash is nice, but sign ups are better!

It is not cash that draws me to surf, but I am drawn by the promise of bonus credits. I can’t resist the extra hits, but only at the exchanges that are performing for me. Otherwise surfing for 1000 bonus credits is a waste of time in an unproductive exchange.

    Love HEN…keep ‘em coming!

All is not lost, there are still some people that want to advertise.

I got a support ticket saying I want to advertise in your advertising program but I have nothing to advertise what shall I do?
