Issue 274 – The Doctor Is In…Once Again!

Author: Jon Olson

My baby is back!

I got started in this business over a decade ago but the first ‘business’ that I actually owned and made money from was something called the Hit Exchange News Traffic Co-Op. It was an advertising co-op that I offered readers to Hit Exchange News back in 2003, the chance to get traffic exchange quality traffic from multiple sources for a low monthly payment.

It actually worked! LOL I mean, people saw the potential and before I knew it, I had a legitimate online money making business. I was a traffic broker, providing traffic for my customers.

So I re-designed the site, and smacked a new name on it…

Doctor Traffic

It’s been 6 years now since D.T. launched and to be honest, it took a major back seat to my other programs like I Love Hits and Affiliate Funnel. I neglected it and lost a ton of business because of it. Not sure why, but I think Doctor Traffic was a very hands on type of business model and something I was not ready to handle back then. I wanted everything to run smoothly so when I hit a bump in the road with D.T., it fell behind…

Times are changing and the traffic exchange industry is still booming. I decided to completely re-do the advertising co-op and add brand new features to it. It’s currently under ‘renovations’ but we are open for business…Here’s just a tidbit of the things to come, hopefully by this weekend;

- An affiliate program (gulp – yes, it will offer commissions)
- Brand new self-approval of sites. Immediate site approval.
- New custom script for the back end management and user admin area.

Essentially, this will once again become one of the premier traffic exchange related services on the net with new vision and new focus. Be sure to check out the site today and get ready for the rehabilitated Doctor Traffic.

Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News

- Jeff Dedrick’s upcoming launch has the entire I.M. world talking…And for good reason! Jeff was one of the first big name internet marketers to embrace the traffic exchanges by adding the original Super Surf 5 to his affiliate tool box last year. Let’s show Jeff that the traffic exchanges are ready to support him, just like he did for us!

- LJ Fix has a new owner! The storied ’savior of the LJ Script’ which was once headed by Robert Purcell, took on new ownership this week as Josh Abbott was handed the reigns. It’s in VERY good hands with Mr. Abbott and should provide current and new LJ owners with a massive sigh of relief.

- Notice: Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!

- Splash Page Hall of Fame – Keith from Traffic Exchange News ‘gets it’ while promoting Soaring 4 Traffic! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

HEN Top 10

The Famous Hit Exchange News Top 10 (Disclaimer: These are my top performing exchanges for the past week. Alexa rankings and fancy numbers have nothing to do with how I rank my list. This is based on my results and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.)

1. Max Traffic Pro
2. Traffic Splash
3. Hits Booster Pro
4. StartXChange
5. Dragon Surf
6. Farm Traffic
7. Tezak Traffic Power
8. Traffic Witch
9. Soaring 4 Traffic
10. Traffic Taxis

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Rambling

The Voices of the Industry – A Special Guest Article

Consistency Counts by Rodney Lewis

Traffic exchanges do work but they have a long way to go before they fully harness the potential of the computer networks and programming languages which lay at their foundation. I’m not a very good programmer, but I do know enough about the craft to know, for instance, that interest and geographic targeting magnitudes of sophistication and granularity greater than any TE has heretofore implemented are possible. And don’t even get me started on multilingual-friendly TE’s.

While these evolutionary steps are essential to our industry’s inevitable journey to the mainstream, I acknowledge in spite of the technology being available these are complicated projects that will require more skill and imagination with code than is currently at the disposal of any TE owner today. Instead I propose a more bite-sized step in the direction of making traffic exchanges a household word, something any TE owner can and should do.

I’ve noticed over the past few months while turning TE’s upside-down looking for data like referral levels, minimum payouts and hit ratios that even the best and brightest TE’s don’t specify pertinent data at best or, worse, have different pages of their site contradict one another. Often, for example, especially on sites with LJ Scripts, the TE will advertise commissions but the TOS has the same boilerplate copy (BTW, you do thoroughly read the TOS’s of all programs you join, don’t you?) about how their TE isn’t a way to make money. Why does the site contradict itself? The sheer number of instances of missing or contradictory data on many TE’s gives our industry an unprofessional, hobbyist look.

I’m looking forward to the day companies the size of McDonald’s understand the simple yet powerful way traffic exchanges can help with branding. I can’t wait until it’s possible for a company to use TE’s to target, for instance, Kansas mothers who drive BMW’s and have three or more kids. But for now I’d settle for TE with proofread copy and complete and consistent info on their specs. No matter what advanced features the TE of the future might have, these programs won’t be taken seriously without such professional polish.

So this is a call to all TE owners out there: We can sit and argue about celestial mechanics and their effects on your members’ surfing habits all day long, but the fact of the matter is, in the northern hemisphere the warm weather is rapidly departing and people are going back indoors in this infirm economy to use their computers to pass the long cold seasons and look for ways to supplement their income. Now is the perfect time to go through each and every page of your program not only checking for proper spelling and grammar, but also to make sure the information is correct and complete across the whole site. If you don’t have the skill to do this or you cannot find someone who does, you don’t have any business owning a TE.

Let’s finish the year strong and have good reason to celebrate 2010.

This article is a feature by a Hit Exchange News reader named Rodney Lewis. From time to time I will feature a guest article by H.E.N. readers so if you would like to get your voice heard, please drop me a line and let the industry know how you feel!

Things that make you go hmmm…

    Great guest article!

Thanks Rodney for shouting out what needs to be said… I need to do some reviewing, and maybe some scripting!

Things that make you go hmmm….

When Logiscape launches a new program and Jon doesn’t even acknowledge it in his newsletter … a newsletter that is supposed to be dedicated to “what’s happening in the traffic exchange industry”.

I have always thought that it was a huge conflict of interest for Jon to run a newsletter that is aimed at informing others about new developments in TE land when he himself runs TEs. It’s a difficult task to write about something new without providing that additional exposure to your competition.

    A hot potato for sure!

w00t! I’m so happy to be published by a publisher other than myself! This is a great day for me! Thanks again Jon!

Great to see Doctor Traffic making a comeback; especially this time of year!

Tyler, sorry you feel that way.

However I have been writing about my ‘competition’ since 2003. Trust me, I have no problem writing about any Logiscape program and have been one of your biggest promoters for years.

Nothing against Logiscape, I think you guys are creative geniuses. I know what you guys are capable of.

Rodney, no no, thank you sir. Great to have a guest article added to the mix. Anytime you wanna write another one man, let me know!

Don’t worry Jon, it’s not personal. I know you have always supported our programs and I respect your work in this industry … always have.

Just would have been nice to see you mention it. Oh well, maybe next time :)

Interesting and thought provoking as always…Thanks for the mention of my S4T splash page – the tools are out there for us all to use so that we can ’stand out from the crowd’.
Thanks also to Justin and Brett for such an awesome product as AdKreator – if I can use it anyone can!

Some one should write about Hitpulse which was monetised then changed there mind half way thru for those logibucks.Poor exchange with poor results yet now launching another exchange makes you think how about improving the exchanges they have before launching yet another new exchange just to make a quick buck on the 1st month signups.

Yeah Keith, Justin has really got something good going on with Ad Kreator.

Reminded me to check it out more.

Tyler, you are right though. I should have covered it, it was a new program that had people talking. I missed it for sure.
