Issue 278 – Branding! Why The Traffic Exchanges Are Perfect For It!
This week’s seminar at Affiliate Funnel was one of the best in recent memory.
Not only were there plenty of new faces that stopped by to take part in their first online seminar, but that’s exactly what they did, take part.
There were loads of questions, comments, suggestions and a whole lot of great information being passed around and I wanted to not only thank each and every member who stopped by but also to highlight the importance of coming to these seminars and taking part.
Here’s a schedule of the weekly events that I host, please do post any others that you may know of and I will feature them as well in a future issue of Hit Exchange News;
Monday Nights (8pm Eastern time) in the Affiliate Funnel Room – General Q & A, A.F. Overview and Open Floor Discussions.
Wednesday Nights (8pm Eastern time) in the SWAT Traffic seminar room – Traffic Exchange Talk & Weekly Brainstorming Sessions.
Affiliate Funnel also hosts a weekend session at Noon Eastern that are must attend events. We get dozens and dozens of members that come by every week for some great list building and traffic exchange training.
Be sure to come by to these seminars. You never know who you will meet, what you will learn or what you may start to build. Take action, ask questions and take part in some great networking opportunities.
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News
- Tweet Glide was released this week and while it may be a Twitter tool, there is a very cool little ‘traffic exchange’ component to it. Make 5 tweets and get your ‘ad’ shown in the Tweet Glide network. Pretty cool huh? Guess traffic exchanges do have a touch of 2.0 in them…
- Traffic Exchange List has a brand new home at Net Marketing Forum. Weekly reports, news and other goodies will be posted by Mr. Tim Linden in the forum. I’d like to welcome the List to NMF and encourage everyone to check out this very detailed and highly sought after traffic exchange ranking list.
- So I put my phone number out there on some splash pages, this blog, and around the net, hoping to get some folks to give me a ring. It’s been 7 days and I’ve only been ‘spam called’ twice. Not bad, but hey if you wanna chit chat about traffic exchange, ring ring 306-262-4648!
- Notice: Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!
- Splash Page Hall of Fame – Yes, this is another splash page from a program I won but WOW Jamison Raymond makes the best splash pages ever! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

The Famous Hit Exchange News Top 10 (Disclaimer: These are my top performing exchanges for the past week. Alexa rankings and fancy numbers have nothing to do with how I rank my list. This is based on my results and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.)
1. StartXChange
2. Hit Safari
3. Traffic Splash
4. Traffic Witch
5. Farm Traffic
6. Max Traffic Pro
7. Dragon Surf
8. Traffic Taxis
9. Tezak Traffic Power
10. Traffic Era
Note: Analysis and Tracking by T.E. Toolbox – The Official Link Tracking Service of Hit Exchange News!
Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Ramblings
Branding!
As soon as you get online, especially in the traffic exchanges, you will hear people telling you that you need to be tracking your ads to see what is working and what is not.
Fine and dandy, I have no problem with that. In fact, I encourage it. I think it’s a very good idea to always be tracking your numbers.
However *gulp* you shouldn’t rely on numbers alone.
Yes, I can hear the hate mail already.
You see folks, your brand awareness is something ‘numbers’ can not tell you. There is currently no way for you to judge and accurately measure your branding power to the traffic exchange audience and that’s why I say you should not simply rely on tracking your stats.
You need to be out there…And for the long run.
Why does power promoters like Tony Tezak, Tim Linden and Soren Jordansen get some of the best results on the traffic exchanges?
Is it because that they know I Love Hits got them 51 sign ups to their blog? Sure, that helps. But it’s also because their name is out there, they ‘brand’ is solid and their reputation is stellar.
Oh yeah, and it helps that you cannot surf for 5 minutes without seeing at least one of their sites. Here’s the best part, you saw one of their sites (if not more) just as much today as you did a year ago.
Powerful huh? Yes folks, this is what I lovingly call traffic exchange brand awareness and it is THE reason so many get such great results. They ‘get’ the branding gig and excel at it.
Want a few tips on how to improve it?
Tip: Surf the most ‘active’ exchanges. And when I mean active I mean the ones that are delivering the exposure PLUS generating the most new members every week.
Tip: Use personalized splash and squeeze pages. This means adding your name, your picture and *gulp* maybe even your phone number! Why? Because your competition won’t and this tells your potential subscriber that you are a real person and someone they can trust.
Tip: Stick out like a sore thumb! Use video, use a podcast, use a blog post, comment on a blog post, go to forums, take part in seminars, be seen everywhere you can! Let me repeat that, be seen EVERYWHERE! The more people see you and recognize you, the more your brand will speak to your potential customer.
Those are just three small tips, the important thing, I think the most important thing is to never give up. Make sure you stay the course because so many people will try this and give up in a month. Do the hard work, it will pay off in huge dividends down the road.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…
- Best two books that I’ve read in the past month! Trust Agents and The Whuffie Factor. Mike Paetzold, you were right =)
- Remember Boom Surfing? That had to be one of the best custom scripts and designs in T.E. history!

Can’t stress it enough! You are absolutely right Jon. Brand who you and everything else will indeed fall into place, I personally experienced that that to be true myself very quickly when I first started in the TE’s.
Hi Jon.
No doubt, it is critical to self-brand especially at the traffic exchanges.
It’s a GREAT feeling hearing someone say – “I know you, I see you all over the traffic exchanges.”
Love the splash for SWAT by Jamison!
Jimmy Adames
As much as you hear it, and as much as people say it’s important, its amazing the number of people that don’t do it!
Both of my traffic exchanges offer personalized splash pages, but only a handful of members use them… It’s the easiest way to brand! You just fill out a form with some of your information, upload your photo… and wallah you have a personalized splash page! Most exchanges make it that simple, but you see the same faces over and over…
It only works if you do it… consistently!
DA
Ya for sure DA. Consistency is the key. It can be slow and steady of quick and steady but the key word is steady. Make sure it’s there as much as you can, for as long as you can.

Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate them.
