Issue 279 – We’re Live On The Air, It’s Traffic Exchange Live!
This week, Tim Linden and I started to hang out in uStream rooms and started something that took us by surprise. We thought it would be cool, to hang out in a uStream room, stream our cameras and invite surfers to come hang out with us.
The results were amazing!
We’re still learning the ropes and we are still trying to master all the features of uStream but every day we will be hanging out, chit chatting and answer live questions all about traffic exchanges.
We’re calling it ‘Traffic Exchange Live’….Check it out here, we may be online right now =)
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

2. StartXChange

4. Traffic Splash

6. Farm Traffic

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Ramblings
I was surfing in StartXchange yesterday and chit chatting with other surfers and someone posted something that I haven’t be able to stop thinking about since.
A member asked why should any traffic exchange expect any surfer to surf like 500 sites a day if they are not being rewarded.
So it stopped me in my tracks. Literally I have been thinking about it because the easy answer would be ‘give us money and we’ll surf’ but as you know, a lot of traffic exchanges are trying to get away from that angle. Simply because we want to be an advertising avenue and not a ‘cash generator’. There are plenty of places to make money online, we want to be the place where you can advertise them.
So I put the question out there, what makes you surf?
Is it the games? How about the in surf chat? Team surfing? Contests? Personal goals?
What makes you, the life and blood of a traffic exchange, surf and continue to click ‘next site’?
Please add your comments below, I would love to hear from each of you. This is a pretty important topic and sometimes, a lot of owners ‘assume’ and don’t ask the question…
Not today, I would love to hear how you feel!

Yeah, since then I updated StartXchange to make the prizes bigger as you’ve surfed more pages. Still awaiting the results, but think he’ll be happy
WOW! Number 1 at HEN! A day of celebration. Thanks to all those Tezzers effots. Love each one of them!
Cheers!
Tony
Hi Jon.
Thanks for accepting me into the Splash Page Hall of Fame. It definitely means a lot coming from you.
I couldn’t have done it without what I feel is the best traffic exchange marketing tool of the year in AdKreator. Thanks Justin and Ray!
Also, I learned a thing or two from you and the other gals and guys like Paul, Tony, Soren and the rest of the gang;-)
Now my answer to your question:
I surf for the EXPOSURE! I care about the credits and impressions. All the other stuff is a bonus but not something I would stop my routines for unless they already fall into my daily routines.
I want to grow my traffic, build my lists and subsequently earn money well into the future and beyond.
Go Beyond the Hits…Build A List!
Regards,
Jimmy Adames
In my view Jon, a TE is solely for earning credits to build up for marketing purposes. That is, to show ones small fast loading squeeze pages, banners or text. Forget the ‘give us money and we’ll surf’ element.
Bonus credits are welcome of course, as are some of the ‘games’, for those who like to play them, as long as they don’t disrupt surfing for too long.
With regards to money for surfing, I am completely dis-interested. Anyone who spends their time surfing TEs for money are not marketers, but desperately poor people.
If such people are from the third world with poor economies, then it might be worthwhile surfing for money. For anyone else, use TEs as a marketing, promotion and branding tool only.
How many of the ‘give us money and we’ll surf’ crowd are IMers? Very few i suspect. So are they even looking at the sites that appear in the TE pages? I doubt it.
If people want money, then use TEs to earn it indirectly my promoting themselves or their business. Trying to make decent money directly from TEs is not going to happen. So if one is of that mindset, I suggest getting a day JOB!
Just my thoughts.
Regards,
Jeff Henshaw.
Thanks guys, love the feedback. So much appreciated =) And oh yea, I completely agree!
Being extremly money orientated would love to earn money from surfing because at the moment I don,t surf at all tell a lie I surf TS25 to see what pages and products ect are out there.
I doubt though that TEs would pay enough to attract enough people.
Downline building is more profitable plus the credits you downlines earn you.
In answer to your question, Jon, I surf because I see TE’s as creditable outlets for advertising and marketing. Obviously they vary in terms of the actual experience, from finding cows or a snake on Traffic Roundup to getting bonuses at varying intervals on ILH or at regular intervals on TrafXchange, which helps to keep us interested in various sites while using the time to see which sites are so over-exposed that they become boring, and I am sorry to say, that includes Splash Pages, because so many people fail to realise that Splash Pages need regular changes to stay effective.
The second part of the question, however, is this. What makes any TE owner think it makes sense to offer me a ticket in a prize draw, on the stipulation that I surf 500 pages in two, three or four TE’s on the same day? OK, that may attract people who want to spend all day doing nothing else, but I think there are many of us who would find that offer off-putting rather than attractive.
You did ask!
Peace and love as always
Syd Burke
Hi Jon! What makes me surf? Like many I believe TE’s are a valid marketing source if used properly. For me it’s all about list building and branding.
But! Do I enjoy the games? Sure! And prizes? Sounds good. I watch for the glove and the new gifting page. Of course I’m going to log in and see what my winnings are and try for more at Tony’s new Winners page. And what will John or Jackie give me today…let’s see! Team surfing is also nice, but mostly for the networking, chatting and community value. Let’s face it, surfing can become a little monotonous once you pass up that 500 pages mark.
Oh, and let’s not forget the occasional gem found in user’s pages! I’ve found several great tools that have made my life easier.
All in all, though, it’s about using TE’s as a marketing tool to further my business. From rotating pages to banners and text ads, list ads and thank you notes with my sig file attached.
One more comment: I WOULD say the random prize dollar is not interesting except they can be traded in for more credits. And more credits mean more marketing opportunities which means more exposure, more visitors and ultimately, more income.
Happy surfing!
Vincent R. Parker
Steve, Syd, Vincent….Thanks guys. Love the feedback and very much appreciated.
Syd, I totally agree. I mean I surf a lot but some people REALLY surf. 500 seems like a ton for me, that’s just the number that seemed to pop up in chat the other day. But yea, that’s a ton of pages.
I just never got into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I’ve got friends who are addicts (on PS3, not XBOX) but I just got lost and bored after a few free-for-alls…
UStream? Hmm, sounds interesting, I may have to keep an eye out for this.
I think I’m bad at socializing because I think the point I was trying to get across was that most sites stop increasing the surf ratio after 400-500 sites(when some surf 1,000 a day, I did yesterday at Traffic Splash to get credits and the great Surf 1,000 reward because banners are great Branding tools!)(I plan to every day as well.)
And yes, I’m happy about the increased surf rewards at StartXChange, Tim. Surfed around 1,300 pages there last night(And almost 1,000 at Dragon Surf).
Still kinda unhappy about how slowly ILoveHits delivers credits(I have like 700 credits on all 3 of my sites on rotation if you wanted to know from surfing alone). I’m guessing ILoveHits gives most people little motivation to surf much.
I’m actually kinda baffled as to both why ILoveHits ranks so high on AF and why it’s on SuperSurf.
Sincerely,
Jeric Lee(NeoJeric)
P.S. A few people surf well over 2,000 pages on multiple exchanges(I would, but I take care of myself and things get in the way).
I would also like to add that a dynamic % ratio isn’t usually as good as a flat increase(especially for Free members, who are basically 95% or so of the people surfing at your TEs).
Dragon Surf is a great example because a Free member can get up to .83 credits per page surfer after reaching 500 pages(Not difficult for a experienced surfer to do). Farm Traffic also seems to go by this example as well.
I’m trying to think how to convince a surfer to surf more, but I don’t any real ideas.
Sincerely,
Jeric Lee
P.S. I think that there are several reasons why EasyHits4U is #1 of AF and ranks so highly everywhere else and they are the following:
-2 different surf options, 2:1 for 15 seconds or 1:1 for 20 seconds. This gives surfers some Freedom of choice because they can decide for a slower timer or more credits, for a faster timer and less credits.
-The ability to double the timer in exchange for using double the credits and there is also an option to not view the extended 30 and 40 second pages as well.
-They pay 30 cents for every 1000 pages surfed, this is mainly important because in today’s world, people are even more greedy and cash-hungry than ever before. Oh, and payout is at only $3.
-The ability for as low as 24 cents, to try out Premium membership to see if they like it or not for 24 hours. And they can repeat this as often as they can afford to.
Those are the main reasons that I can think of right now. Some of these, you TE owners could take into consideration, most notably the surf options and the trial membership.
