Issue 283 – This Is Broken Record Time, But We’re On To Something…Big!

Broken records can be very annoying!

You know, same thing over and over and over again…

Yes, I’ve been raving about Traffic Exchange Live for a few weeks now and well, I’m not done yet!

So what? You may be asking yourself, what can this possibly do for my business. How can watching Jon Olson, Tim Linden and John Guanzon every single week day possibly help my business? And why does Olson always seem to be eating….

Here’s how I see it, this is being built by the members and the people that come to the ‘show’ every day. They are getting to know each other, exchanging emails, ideas, and building their personal brand more than anyone else in this business.

The best part?

You can join them and it doesn’t cost a single penny!

Ya, most of these ‘new ways’ to get known don’t cost money they cost effort, they cost time and it’s getting a whole lot easier to be noticed.

Special note, TE Live now works along with your TE Toolbox user name. That’s right, you can promote TE Toolbox by advertising the movement that we lovingly call Traffic Exchange Live…

Pretty cool new feature added by Mr. Linden, simply replace (username) with your TE Toolbox username and presto, you get your affiliate links in front of anyone you refer to the broadcast…

Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

HEN Top 10

The Famous Hit Exchange News Top 10 (Disclaimer: These are my top performing exchanges for the past week. Alexa rankings and fancy numbers have nothing to do with how I rank my list. This is based on my results and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.)

1. Tezak Traffic Power
2. Traffic Splash
3. Max Traffic Pro
4. StartXChange
5. Traffic Punk
6. Traffic Era
7. Farm Traffic
8. Hit Safari
9. Dragon Surf
10. Easy Hits 4 U

Note: Analysis and Tracking by T.E. Toolbox – The Official Link Tracking Service of Hit Exchange News!

Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Ramblings

Build a list of three, not of three thousand!

Huh?

Olson, what exactly did you smoke this morning?

What do I mean by build a list of 3 and not a list of 3000? Simple, focus! It’s a brand new way of thinking that I have adopted and a way of doing business I feel the rest of the industry needs to take a serious look at as well.

Here’s what I mean;

We focus so much on the size of a list, we never stopped and asked our self, is this more damaging than good? I think it is. The reason, more and more we are moving into an environment where business is done EVERY DAY between people that have a relationship.

No longer does the ‘one size fits all’ work. We, as online business people, need to focus on a small list of customers instead of being all things to all people. Specialize in one thing and best THE expert in that one thing.

You don’t need 3,000 people on your list. Sure, you can HAVE 3,000, but the size of your list doesn’t translate into success, it’s the quality of the relationship that you have that matters, now more than ever!

So it’s my new way of doing things. I’m about relationships first, and you know what, wow it feels good. One look at all the stuff we’re doing at Traffic Exchange Live and you can see, we are moving towards ‘building relationships’.

Focus your effort, stop trying to be the jack of all trades. Be a master of one…

Things That Make You Go Hmmm…

Easy Hits 4 U surfers may be sick of me, but their ownership is really pushing some great stuff with their new tutorials…

– Special congratulations to Tezak Traffic Power for reaching the 20,000 member mark in well, record time. Great stuff Mr. Tezak!

  1. Welcome to Traffic Wave, Jon!

I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I have over the past three years.

Could not agree with you more about the relationship aspect of list building. The money is NOT in the list (alone).

A small list of people who WANT to hear from you is far more valuable than a list of thousands who do not know you.

Help others. Add value. Build relationships, not just a list. Your subscribers will appreciate you for it.

When it comes time for them to buy a new product or service being promoted by hordes of others, they’ll choose to buy from someone they trust.

  2. Hi Jon!

Didn’t know how to get this message to you. I tried at TrafficExchangesLive, but never did wind up in the right room!

Just wanted to let you know your links are NOT clickable in hotmail! I have to do the old copy n’ paste to get to HEN now.

Keep up the great work – I love TELive! Addicting in a weird kinda way.

    Lynne Sherman

  3. Tony, Scott – thanks guys. Very much appreciate the feedback.

Lynne – Ya uStream has been acting weird of late, breaking people up and putting them in different rooms. I think they have been working on the system a lot because of the new iPhone app.

And ya, I heard that the Traffic Wave emails the links aren’t working in MSN and Yahoo. They seem to be fine in Google though.

    Any ideas? I’m lost LOL

  4. “Any ideas?”

    Been there, done that.

To ensure your links are clickable, insert a hard code link in the html source. You can use the tool bar button or go to the source code.

I’ve had the same problem in the yahoo email client regardless of the source of the email (including aWeber). Some email clients do not convert all URLs to clickable links. But if you send an html version with your link embedded, the links are always clickable.

    One more hint…

Separate paragraphs with double line breaks. Yahoo and some other clients read paragraph breaks differently. The standard is to use line breaks.

Enjoy. The html formatting can be a lot of fun and help your emails really stand out.

  5. Jon,

Great “Ramblings” on the list of 3 today. Your timing could not have been better.

There was a hot thread kicking off in OBA today pertaining to “to list or not to list”

I gave you props and posted your pearls of wisdom.

    Thanks much.

    Paul

  6. “Anyway to get the links to work in plain text emails?”

Plain text is plain text regardless of the platform that delivers the text.

It depends entirely on the email client reading the email to convert plain text to a clickable link.

Hot Mail and Yahoo convert plain text URLs somewhat randomly. I have not figured out the logic.

Gmail seems to convert all URLs beginning with http:// to a clickable html link in the client reader.

For outgoing email, some delivery platforms may insert the html code automatically behind the scenes for you.

But even when sending an email from Gmail, you have to highlight the text link and create a hyperlink if you want to ensure the link is clickable in the reader’s inbox.

You do not have to format an entire email copy in html to add the html code behind a link. It’s one-step easy.

Otherwise, just tell those who say the link is not clickable to get a Gmail account. (No marketer should count on Hot Mail or Yahoo to reliably deliver important email.)

  7. Jon,

I was wondering about the last few emails from you (sent via TW) that the links weren’t clickable. Kinda annoying having to copy/paste link to get here.

Good thing I like you & your stuff or I wouldn’t go to that effort. LOL

Interesting that ALL the trafficwave links at bottom of all emails I’ve gotten ARE clickable in those “same” emails, tho. heh heh

I receive text emails from most people via Aweber, GR and other ARs and they didn’t have that problem so maybe TWave needs to come up with a fix.

    Thx!

    Enjoy The Holidays!

    Rick Wilson aka CorpRebel

  8. Rick LOL Thanks man, much appreciated.

Ya, I think it’s something that can be fixed, the entire team has been amazing at TW so far for me…

I’m going to wait a while before I start bugging them to add new features LOLOL

  9. Hiya, I am really glad I’ve found this information. Nowadays bloggers publish just about gossip and net stuff and this is actually irritating. A good website with exciting content, this is what I need. Thanks for making this site, and I will be visiting again. Do you do newsletters? I Can’t find it.
