Issue 292 – The Passion, The Click, The News
In this week’s Deep Thoughts, I really get emotional in my post. Some folks are going to take it the wrong way, some folks will agree with me but please understand this…
Everything I write about, talk about, teach about, surf about…All this is from the heart. I have been in love with traffic exchanges since day one and Hit Exchange News has always been my release. Instead of keeping thoughts all bottled up, I write (passionately) every week about these programs.
When something is good in this industry, I am glowing. Sounds cheesy I know, but nothing makes me happier than seeing programs like Traffic Exchange Solutions, T.E. Toolbox, Thumb Vu (just to name a few) get launched and supported. It’s good for the industry when quality programs are seen by the masses.
And when something bad happens in the industry, I cringe. The whole cash for surfing thing, I know people may love it, but when I see this, I scratch my head. I always thought this way about exchanging traffic? When I see constant ‘commercial scripts’ get released with absolutely no innovation at all, I cringe even more.
I know I’m being critical. I know I may annoy some of you, but please remember. All this is from the heart, and not some commentary from someone without any interest at all in surfing. You would be blown away at the amount of people that claim they love traffic exchanges and support them but don’t surf a single page a week.
This is Hit Exchange News. This is traffic exchange commentary from the heart. We’re almost at issue 300 and I don’t plan on slowing down and changing how I write anytime soon.
Thank you very much for being a reader of Hit Exchange News and have a wonderful week!

The News
- We have started something big over at I Love Hits. Bracket Surfing has been a huge success and well, way too addicting. One glance in the ILH Chat and you’ll see what I mean. Special thanks to everyone for making this such a success, it’s all because of the members =)
- Traffic Splash has passed 90,000 members! Wow. Amazing to think of how this program started out, stumbled and then found a guy by the name of Paul Kinder and well, the rest is history. Way to go KRM!
- Keith Butterworth’s Traffic Exchange News is a must read for anyone looking for daily deals, specials and news about EVERY traffic exchange out there. Great stuff and a bookmark I will be checking out for months to come.
- Notice: Cast your vote today for your favorite traffic exchanges at Affiliate Funnel’s Surfer’s Choice ranker. This is YOUR voice and YOUR opinion on what traffic exchanges you feel are the best in the business. Be sure to vote every day and get your opinion heard!
- Splash Page Hall of Fame – Mike Gartner (the brains behind Thumb Vu, Link Crews and Traffic Dealer) is up to something… This is going to be HUGE! Note: Why do I focus on splash pages every week? Simple, you MUST be using them in the traffic exchanges to get results. Get a custom made splash page by clicking here!

The Famous Hit Exchange News Top 10 (Disclaimer: These are my top performing exchanges for the past week. Alexa rankings and fancy numbers have nothing to do with how I rank my list. This is based on my results and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.)
1. Traffic Splash
2. Tezak Traffic Power
3. StartXChange
4. Max Traffic Pro
5. Hit Safari
6. Dragon Surf
7. Traffic Swarm
8. Traffic Witch
9. Traffic Era
10. Thumb Vu
Note: Analysis and Tracking by T.E. Toolbox – The Official Link Tracking Service of Hit Exchange News!
Question: Hey Jon, how come I Love Hits and SWAT Traffic are never on the top 10 list? Since I own them, I feel it would be a conflict of interest to place it on any of my rankings. (But we all know how great they are anyways lol)

Deep Thoughts – Jon’s Weekly Ramblings
We Don’t Need More Of This…
It’s not new, commercial traffic exchange scripts have been around since the beginning of this industry. And while we’re no longer in the days of 4 new traffic exchanges launching every day, we still see new programs launching on a weekly basis…
Here’s what I like and what I think we need to change. First, I love the business savvy of people. Program ownership is very empowering and something I encourage everyone to dive into. You will make so much more money online OWNING something rather than just promoting something. At least from my experience. So I do believe in it, and encourage it.
BUT!
I don’t think the world needs more ‘cookie cutter’ programs. We do not need another commercial script with nothing new to add to this business. I always teach in my seminars that the market for traffic exchange users is very profitable if you release a product catering to them, they don’t need another ‘same old’ traffic exchange but they can use another ebook on how to get results, another training tutorial on proper squeeze page creation, etc…
I see it far too many times, people purchase a script and immediately think they are going to be in business. This takes THOUSANDS of dollars and months upon months of networking to launch a new traffic exchange properly.
Sure you may make a few bucks to start with but the real test comes a year down the road after the hype has died down. Is it still profitable? Is it growing everyday? Are your members talking about new features you are releasing?
I’m trying to scare you away, seems mean, but the truth of the matter is after a decade plus of doing this, there have been way more horror stories than successes when it comes to traffic exchange ownership. If you are going to launch one, PLEASE do something different. Create something that ADDS to our industry and gets everyone talking about it.
I don’t think there can ever be enough good traffic exchanges, I just think there are too many poorly managed ones…

Two very sexy splash pages!
Jon, your passion and love for TEs shines through in both your writing and your presence on TELive. Sure, you may come off as opiniated to some, but I have never doubted that the heart behind those opinions was 100% committed to improving the TE industry.
And I totally love your rants on TELive – you’re like the TELive version of Canada’s Rick Mercer! Thanks for the laughs.
Shine on, Jon!
Yer ever-lovin’ fan,
Lynne aka crowknows
Ha ha ha Rick Mercer.
Nice.
I just felt like I needed to kind of share why I open my trap every week LOL
nice lookin page Tim! Very cool!
Hey Jon
Thanks for the mention, much appreciated.
Great to see we made 1 and 2 this week as well. Very pleased to know you’re getting great results.
Mega HEN this week too – Tim’s splash is well cool and I just signed up for UA’s thang (hadn’t heard a word about that yet either! lol)
Keep it coming from the heart!
cheers Jon
Hope the rant in TE Live today got all that angst out of your system Jon. I love HEN and would be most upset if you stopped writing. I think you fail to appreciate the help you give to so many ppl out there that are just going along quietly doing their own thing but need advice and good tips to improve what they are doing. I know that I have learn’t heaps off useful stuff off you and Paul Kinder and Robert Puddy and others. Just because its not out there beating you between the eyes every day you are helping
Keep it up I say
Cheers Martin (aka alfarues)
Thanks Martin, I really appreciate the kind words. Nah, T.E.’s are my passion, I can’t ever give them up. =)
Hey Jon,
Wanted to introduce myself as a newbie TE owner (have you cringed yet?). But wait, don’t cringe….I didn’t kick off a new TE, but rather took over one that’s been around since 2006. Had 400 users when I took over, and promptly dumped 30 for bad email addresses. After 1 month of running the site (RankRaise.com), I am seeing now how well it was run and managed in the past. Most likely another cookie cutter website, to borrow your terminology.
I admire your passion and drive. That’s what this industry needs more of. That’s what I hope to bring and contribute to the TE Owner’s circle. I became a TE owner because I believe strongly in a great user experience and that folks who use our exchanges don’t always feel like they are working with a real person. I am here to change that. In the past month, I have grabbed the bull by the horns and marketed RankRaise as much as I can while working a day job and letting my wife and kids know I still exist. I have acquired close to 60 new users since then – a membership increase of 16% – in just over 1 month.
We are here for our members. If affiliate marketers did not believe in traffic exchanges, we would not be in business. Granted, many people join the bandwagon only to fall off a short ride later. Such is the life of affiliate marketing. But it’s our duty to our customers to be innovative, present new and interesting programs, promotions, and tools – as well as reminding them we are here to help.
I posted my story on Facebook, of why I became a TE owner. Soon, I hope to get a blog online to share. I believe in reaching out to my users personally, whenever possible, to talk to them, share experiences, tips and advice. I invite them to reach me on Skype, on Facebook, or wherever they wish to chat. I welcome the chance to speak with anyone, Skype me at gotravelgo.
Remember, one of the most important elements to being successful: LISTEN. We learn from our users. We learn from our friends and families. We learn from each other. We learn from those above us who have been successful. Listening is crucial – if you’re not listening, you may just miss something that could change your life forever. And don’t forget to thank those you learned from. We want to hear about your success. But moreso, one who listens, learns, and applies what they learned is someone I will respect for a long time.
Kudos on a great newsletter and never stop sharing your thoughts and passion. I’m listening….how about everyone else? =)
Regards,
Brian Schilling
Great to have you here Brian, thanks for the kind words.
Hi Jon
)
Many thanks for mentioning traffic-exchange-news (the link doesn’t work though…just my luck!
Whilst I wouldn’t want to claim I cover every exchange – I get enough emails as it is! – I cover most of the top performing ones.
Keep the passion – it is inspiring.
Happy surfing
Keith
