The New ThumbVu & How To Get Big Results

So we re-did ThumbVu this past week and completely changed the make up of the site. Yes, it’s still a traffic exchange but you know how TimTech does things, when we change things, we really like to shake it up!

So there has been some confusion on exactly what ThumbVu has become and what it did not become. First of all, this is NOT Sweeva version 2.

While Sweeva is meant to review each site in rotation, what ThumbVu is meant to be is a review site for the marketer. Yes, it’s social branding on a whole new level. Where the MARKETER is the focus not so much the web site. Sure the web sites get great exposure but I think Justin made a great point in this week’s T3 seminar where he said…

“If Jon told me about a great place to get an oil change, I would more than likely go to that spot instead of a random place simply because I know Jon, I trust his judgement and his recommendation…”

Top rated, top brand and top knowledge…That is huge. Plus he got 57 reviews on his profile and basically was branded as ‘the dude’ in the site. This is a very cool technique and if you got a chance to see how he did it yesterday you should get some great ideas on how to use the new ThumbVu to sky rocket your reputation.

This is the first traffic exchange about the MEMBER first. Yes we are still exchanging traffic, but now with the focus on the member, we expect some very creative campaigns where the focal point of them will be who is promoting something, rather than what is being promoted.

  1. Many of you reading this will already know who Blain is.

    Others will not have heard of him because he had been away for a while.

    But he used new ThumbVu to ensure that the message that he was back got out to many people in a quick, efficient and cost-effective manner.

    New ThumbVu is just a few days old and already some people are moaning about how much they hate it.

    Meanwhile others like Blain are using it to achieve great results.

  2. Patrick – agreed….He really crushed it with this promotion and I think basically wrote the new book on how to properly get huge exposure from the new system.

    But yeah, most people will whine and complain…It is what it is. It happened with Sweeva and CTP before lol

  3. Thanks for the great props on this one Jon.

    To be honest, I saw an opportunity and just went with it. It is amazing how great the results can be when you actually take some action and do something.

    I personally love it when new things come out like this, it gives EVERYONE an equal opportunity to quickly get on top! Overall this cost me 2,500 credits for the spotlight, 20 seconds to make the video, and 10 minutes to upload it to youtube and create the page on AdKreator. So simple and SOOOOOO effective.

    If I had any advice to everyone reading this, it would be to just jump out there as quick as you can and see what happens! That’s all I ever do and most of the time it works. Sometimes it does flop, but I fail forward and don’t dwell on the the past. Just keep moving forward and stepping outside of the box with everything that you do!

  4. Blain – yeah man, but alas what you did took 10 minutes of EFFORT….and you had an idea and ran with it. Sadly, this industry is plagued by the excuse bug and it’s run rampant over everyone. Hopefully posts like this, your example and Andrew’s post last week can shake things up…

    With the remake of ThumbVu I’m pretty sure it is going to really stick out there.

    I remember in my first IM training courses how people used to pray on the big traffic exchanges and then tried to say they didn’t work anymore.

    I believe that ThumbVu being all about branding first and then marketing and advertising second, it is how it really should be done.

    Can’t really say or predict how this will turn out in the near future for the new system but I’m pretty sure that people will think twice before they promote dirt instead of great systems.

  7. Talk about making a change… this really was a flip for the system. I now some people make comments like “Why did they change it?” or “This won’t work!”. I have to go back to a little family story where some of our daughters did not like something because their mother did not like it. They never even tried the food. The funny part is neither did their mother… LOL. The moral of the story is rather simple… Don’t give up on trying something new “Just because!”. Besides you might find out you really do like it…

    By the way… I am seeing some huge potential with the way you can use ThumbVu now!

  8. This is a great initiative which may have huge potential – it certainly will do a lot to solidify brands for key players within the TE Niche.

    It will be interesting to see whether players from outside the niche take an interest.

    When I first saw the change, it shocked me a little (it was so different). After surfing for a little while, I found that I really like it! Sometimes change is good! I think the new ThumbVu is going to do wonders for helping with branding. I’m finding myself really paying attention to who the “people” are, so I’m sure others are doing the same.

    So my vote is in. I like it! I hope others do, too.

    I look forward to the continued development of the “New” Thumbvu as Tim continues to make improvements per member suggestions.

  12. I love the new Thumbvu! In fact, I did a blog post about it yesterday morning. I always try to click on a new face to see who is on there. It is fun getting to know people this way. Some may not like it because they can’t hide anymore. Thumbvu members call them out when no picture or name is posted or when the pic is not of the person.

    I think this is a huge step forward. Way to go TimTech guys!

  13. I’m still getting use to the change…but change is good. It makes us break habits…in this case our surfing habits.I am guilty of using it like Sweeva as well. It’s so unusual to have the attention on the marketer it will take a little bit of getting use to and getting over that “fear” of just going for it.

    I’m coming to realize I have a branding challenge that I’m working through…reading “Crush It” is also stirring the pot sort of speak…and I’m just beginning to see the opportunities in my challenge.

    You’re right Blain took the time to piggyback on your brand and you’ve both won. If you take the time to think about what and how you promote the results will be a thousand times better than just sticking your affiliate link in rotation.

    The only downside to Thumbvu at the moment is that Jesus is getting in on the act and vastly overspending on spotlight traffic!

    Keep up the excellent work and having the belief to shake up this industry.
